Safety Question (Do you wear your seatbelt?)

Sorry if this isn't the place to post this question, and i couldn't figure out how to start a poll so forgive me. There's been a neat discussion on here about the front licence plate and the different laws in each state. so it got me to wondering about something. i know we are all law abiding citizens and never would exceed the posted speed limit! (right)...........

anyway i'll get to the point do you always buckle up your seat belt....
or drive without it. yes i know all about the safety laws and all the reasons why
just wondering. i'm an old timer and should know better but i'm sorry to say it's
one bad habit i can't seem to break. so my answer is usually NO............
sorry to ramble on..............

I occasionally cruise without it, if I'm only going to the corner store or something, but anything over a ten minute drive, or any amount of highway, I click it.

I always wear my seat belt, even if I'm just driving a block down the road. You never know when you're going to need it!

Why would you not buckle up??

It's like asking people "will you hit the brake if you are going to hit someone??"

I've always used a seat belt. I'm sure the reason why is that my dad is a fireman/emt and as a result I've heard my fair share of horror stories. Just figure better safe than sorry.

I used to volunteer with my mom at the shock trauma admitting area in Baltimore City. So, yeah, I know firsthand the difference between belted and non-belted.

You'd think I'd be smarter when it came to my own safety. But yeah, it's a difference between night and day.

I always buckle and won't move until all my passengers do too. Foolish not to!

ChrisSlicks 04-04-2012 08:46 PM

Most accidents happen close to home - I always click it.

Always buckled up.

Always

Mandatory seat belt laws came early to my state -- I lived in Washington State at the time. Many years later it's now just simple muscle memory to buckle up -- don't even think about it.

I created a poll for you.

I've worn my seat belt since I started driving. I feel naked without it and I feel as if I'm not secured to the car (technically I'm not).

When I was in high school I was a passenger in a friends car that got t-boned. I specifically remember the seat belt going taught a spit second before my head was about to go through the passenger window. The seat belt most likely saved my life once already. There's no reason to stop using it now. :driving:

I hardly ever use it. It's not even a safety issue, it's only a revenue generator for the .gov. Besides, I don't need one for my streetbike and I'm generally safer in my car.

Racing School 101: First put on seatbelt.
