It is a safety issue. Belts keep you relatively stable and stationary during the crash. Your chest doesn't hit the steering column as often, you are less likely to be ejected from the vehicle, less likely to bang around inside the cabin of the car in the case of hard contact.

I don't know how much of this can be mitigated with modern airbag systems, but I do know that you are safer with a belt on than not.

Always, I can't even back up without it on. I fly commercially for a living and it creeps me out to not be well connected to the seat when operating a vehicle.

theboydiddy 04-05-2012 09:52 PM

... after flying through a windshield because i wasn't wearing the seat belt in the back seat, YES i wearing for 5min for 2min, in the front seat, back seat. any seat.

I always where my seat belt. I might leave it off only if I'm not leaving my parking lot, but even then I usually put it on. Better safe than sorry.

I have for a long time now, but only after I was almost thrown through a windshield. My friend Sam just died a few weeks ago from not wearing a seatbealt. Buckle up

i always wear mine. doesn't feel right without it, too much movement.

i have a friend who never wears his, and drives around with the damn car beeping at him since it's not buckled. makes me real uncomfortable to be a passenger when he's driving.

sorry to hear man :shakes head:

state law says click it or ticket.

I do it more for safety then for getting a ticket though. :tiphat:

I wear mine 99% of the time unless I am driving my truck up to the corner liqour store from the office after work (2 blocks on sidestreets) I will ALWAYS wear it if actually driving no matter how short the drive.

lol1234 04-06-2012 06:17 PM

feels so awkward not wearing one

I feel like I'm going to get sucked out the car for no reason

BlackZeda 04-06-2012 06:38 PM

The way I drive I most definitely need to wear the seatbelt...

eastwest2300 04-06-2012 09:49 PM

I wear it 85% of the time, I need to be wearing it all the time though.
