They look kind of stock form, like someone modded the intake box into heat shields. If the dyno is correct, thay seem to hold up well, but something seems askew.
the air filter is a totally different design

take some time to read this
2007-2008 Infiniti G37 MaxxFlow Cold Air Intake System | R2C Performance Products and this about the filters Technical Advantages | R2C Performance ... World-Class HIgh-Performance Intake Systems & Filters |
it's interesting, shumby got me interested in these
so what do you think??

Is this just my perspective or the angles of the pictures? Or is stillen using a filter that is so large it is losing power? Edit: I think they are BS. Just because their filters are similar to the ones in an Army tank doesn't mean **** to me. They sure do talk about cotton gauze a lot. |
stillen uses K&N oiled filters...to me they look the same size
IDK man, give them a try. I think I'm missing something here. :icon14:
they do give a nice rumble
I like the black pipes on them too... With the white filter...

I just dont get what that shield is for in front of the intakes... I mean if the idea is to get them out of the engine bay in the flow of fresh air from outside, then wouldnt you want that side of the intakes free from obstruction? Or is that a bug shield of some sort? And also, with the intakes blocking/sucking air in front of the radiator, does that effect it's efficiency at all? Less air going through = less heat transfer?
it's a shield for rain......if you think about it, air is coming from the same place....both are equally same temp around...so i dunno
Guess that works too.. Since its a dry filter = sponge...
I'm no engineer, or even a gearhead, so I could be way out of line, but:
If they actually provide the same horse as the g3, it's not because it's getting cooler air from down below like the G3, it's getting it by sucking more air. So we would have to ask ourselves why it's sucking more air, which could be the angles or size of the pipes, the surface area of the filter (less likely), or the filtration rate. I don't believe it's the first two, so my thoughts go to filtration. Less filtration = increased air intake. Unfortunately, that also means more junk into your engine. |
K&N for example claims to be 99% as efficient as a stock filter. While 1% doesn't sound like jack shit, over the life of a 150K mile car, that could be HUGE.
i dunno whether to get or not..........the dyno shown the the r2c site is crap gain in torque

I really like the looks of this one a lot better. Does the G37 model fit our cars? It doesn't say on their website. And how much is it? |
the 370z has it's own model number for the stillen's
the g37 front grille is higher than the 370z or are you talking about the r2C's?? |

i dont like the idea of oiling the filters

i would assume they fit because the engine bay is exactly the same
from the radiator the the firewall, it's the same. radiator to bumper is different, which is why the Stillen Gen 3 arent the same model# for both cars. |
nogood, have you seen the price?

it's an engine cover..... :roflpuke2: |

I'm curious about the R2C filters, I'd have to see them up close to offer an educated opinion. As for the intakes, I like the way they look.
But I agree, I hated oiling the filter I had in my Jeep. In the summer months I checked it regularly due to the dusty roads and driving conditions I would put it through when I lived in Michigan. I had 2 filters so I wouldn't be out of comision when I had to clean and oil one. |
