Got pulled over for speeding this morning. 60 in a 45. He let me off with warning though, because I didn't BS him. What I find interesting is the way he got me. I was going in one direction, he was going in the other. He turns on his radar AFTER we already pass each other. So he's behind me, with radar pointing backwards out the rear of his car, and our cars are going in opposite directions, and he gets my speed. This is a first for me. Didn't know they could do that.
|
they can catch how fast ur speeding away, as long as the radar is stationary is what matters.
car heading towards radar is the norm car leaving away from radar might just give a negative value, but still gets the speed |
They cant.

(I however didn't get off with a warning!) :bowrofl: |
According to my uncle who is our county sheriff, and is right beside me...he says you cant get an accurate representation of speed when two cars are going away from eachother, he says it dosnt hold up in court if you were to debate the ticket there.

I call BS on thet defence. any one actually try it. The whole principal of laser and radar it will not matter weather you are coming or going.
|
Well thats coming from him not me, im just relaying the words hes saying lol.
|
contest it...lol
if you loose, do you have to pay court fees along with the ticket never really thought about court fees Shumby thinks like me, it's possible it's called the Doppler effect |

lol
i'm telling you it's possible, unless a lead wall falls in between the radar and car it's possible |

Has anyone ever noticed that everybody picks on Tebow? I LOVE that people cant stand him, Why? because he dismantles every team he plays. Because he puts up better numbers by himself than other teams entire offenses do. Its ok the best player in college football has only one more year left and then yall can whine about another player destroying your football team.
|
Still convinced he's the antichrist.

Yep, it was Gwinnett. The way I figure it, the only way it could possibly work is if they have some new system that automatically takes into account the officer's speed going in the one direction, your 'negative' speed (relative to him) going in the other direction, and instantaneously makes the calculation and displays your speed. I mean, it's possible to do that, mathematically speaking. I just don't know if such systems actually exist. I know he didn't have his radar on when he was in front of me because my V1 was silent. We pass each other, then my V1 goes off with the arrow indicating that the signal is behind me. In fact, my first thought was "Hmm...what good is that going to do him?" D'oh!

You know, part of me wonders if he was completely BS'ing me. The exchange went pretty much like this:
Him: Do you know why I pulled you over? Me: Um, I'm guessing because I was driving too fast? Him: Yep. Do you know how fast you were going? Me: Around 60? Him: Yep, that's what I got you at. Do you know what the speed limit is on this road? Me: 45 mph. Point being, I volunteered my speed to him. His claim that it matched what he got me at could be complete BS. In fact, now that I think about it, the last time I got pulled over I also got a warning, but it was a written one. The officer actually wrote up a real ticket and handed it to me, but it had "WARNING ONLY" written all over it. This time, he just verbally told me he appreciated me being honest and not playing games with him and said he was just giving me a warning. It was all verbal, no ticket or anything. I'm seriously thinking that maybe he had no real case against me, but decided to pull me over anyway to do a license check, make sure I had no warrants, etc. And telling that he was letting me go with a warning sounded better than telling me that he was letting me go because he didn't really have anything on me. :p |
On LA tickets, there's a line for speed & radar number. Does yours have a scan number?
(I don't know the real terms) |
he's suppose to show the speed results on the radar to you.
|
He may have just wanted to see your car. :)
I wouldn't think about it too much. He may not have had a case, hence the warning. |
Semtex... you got :owned: lol
