Ask the provider they will transfer it for you. The iphone doesn't have a sim card so you can't just switch, you will have to call the phone provider. Tech line is your friend.

x2

When I signed up on verizon's website, they asked me if I had a current number. I entered it in on the website, and they did everything automatically. I never even had to talk to anyone.

Actually the iPhone does have a SIM card, Verizon & Sprint phones do not have SIM cards as they run on CDMA.
If you are staying on AT&T the will switch the number no problem, but if you are going to a new provider you will have to take the number, plus a bill with you usually and they can transfer it at the store.

What phone are you switching to?

Just tell them, they don't care. Tmobile has Iphone tech support even though it is exclusive to Att

I'm lost, are you trying to get your insurance to pay for it?

Paper clip in the top hole and it pops out (easier than most phones actually).

Sunsational04 08-29-2009 01:57 PM

Are you switching providers? if so the provider will have to contact the old provider to release your number to the new provider.

Easy, just buy your new phone, sell your old phone to whoever. The 3G S will come with a new SIM card, with the 3G iPhone just pop out the SIM card from the top before you give it to whoever is buying it.

Number will transfer when you buy the new phone easily. Also, make sure you sync your 3G iPhone before you buy the new one so you have everything ready to sync when you get the new phone.
