Interesting point you bring up. See that fact that the majority of the rest of the world doesn't hate Canada, and we haven't bullied other nations for the last 60 years bodes well in Canada's favour.

We don't need a large military because there are very few countries we have invaded and antagonized aside from out recent blundering in the Middle east which was done to show support and good faith for our neighbors to the south.

I would also take Universal health care and a modest military over an elite military and zero health care, any day. When you're sick, or a relative has cancer and is dying, does the military come and take care of you, or do you end up bankrupt and having to sell your house?

You guys really need to realize that just because I don't like 2 facets of American policies doesn't make me 'anti-American'.

I'm sitting in a second home in Ft. Lauderdale posting this as we speak, looking out over the inter-coastal waterway enjoying the beautiful weather, and really loving my day, knowing that outside of maybe Vancouver there is nowhere in Canada that compares.

There are literally hundreds of facets to America, but because I don't agree with one or two of them I'm a 'hater' or 'anti-American'. I thought you guys were big fans of free speech, isn't it part of your constitution to have a right to an opinion?

I love America, I have lived in Canadian border towns all my life, but I am well within my rights to disagree with U.S. foreign policy as I do with Canadian foreign policy.

It doesn't make me unpatriotic because I choose not to blindly accept everything a government does. It makes me a free-thinker, who see the good and bad side in everything.

People are too quick to shun someone who shares a different opinion from them. I didn't come on here attacking anyone, I expressed a legitimate view supported by the BBC and other major media outlets that perhaps American policies in the past contributed to the rise of Osama, and now I am being vilified.

Between my girlfriend and myself we spend close to 50k in the U.S. yearly including 30k in property tax for a second home, which is probably more than most 'Americans'

But by all means, because a couple of my comments make you uncomfortable, build a wall across your entire country.

No wonder Quebec doesn't want to be part of Canada.

Canada doesn embark on overseas imperialistic military adventures so we really wont need a bloated expensive military anyway like the americans do

Americans already made up their minds regarding bin laden. Please do not confuse them with facts :)

Good call, while I do like the 'idea' of universal health care, our system is in shambles, and really it only benefits the poor who would receive no health care otherwise. It brings down the level of health care the middle/upper class receive.

While this may sound elitist, I don't agree that someone contributing 100k taxes annually should have to wait 6 months for an MRI, the same length of time as someone who pays no taxes.

I'd much prefer a tiered system, based on your taxable income where what you contribute to the country determines your level of health care, but basic care is provided to all, although I'm sure this will never happen.

If America implements a Universal health care you guys will be so buggered financially you may as well change the international currency to the Chinese Yuan right now.

Anyways sorry for going off the handle, I guess I took the 'build a wall' comment a little personally.

Granted America is flawed, but no country is perfect... not even close... as far as health care.. I agree with you to an extent...
but that goes on another rant about people not having jobs, and other social programs that are fail...

The price of oil went down because of it, but no lowering of gas prices yet.
