New car after 370z
So If my car comes back as totaled I am going to need to buy a new one. I have no idea what route to go but I like a few things so I could use the forums help. Maybe you all could add a few pros and cons to the vehicles too.

More poll options!!

Firstly Bryce you gotta mention what you liked / disliked about the 370z. cus if things like space/trunk space come up ya know.
Main on a cayman will be high. i'd personally go 5.0 The BMW were notoriously unreliable (dont know if they got that taken care of) |
In all honesty I don't think any of the above are going to make you any happier than the Z.
Yes, the 135i is a very quick car on a straight line. Hasn't got the Z's handling though. Plus, keep in mind this is a 1 series BMW - it's based on what gets sold with a 4-pot sub- 2 litre engine in Germany and competes with the Golf. The WRX is interesting - but have you seen the interior? Porsche Cayman S - maybe. But it would be plenty used if you stick to Z pricing. Mustang - can't comment. Haven't driven one. Have you considered something a bit more extreme? Try test driving a Lotus Elise R or SC if you're after handling and performance. Else I'd stick to the Z. Anyway, just my few cents. Good luck with your new car hunt. |
WRX interior is fine IMO. Avoid any of the factory audio / navigation options though, they all suck.
|
yeah I love the Z it would just be hard to find one and make it the same as I had it before... More practical would be nice but I love porsche. anyone is free to throw out any other options.
|
None of those. I would choose the car I almost bought. A GTR.
Long story short: I almost missed the 2009 production run (right at the end of it). So, if I couldn't get the 370, I was going to get the GTR. EDIT: And I might still get one. If my 370 sells (and no, I'm not trying), then I will buy a GTR. |
I would go with the STi!
|
None of above
|
I want to drive the BMW 1M . it was between the 135i and the Z when I got the Z, so I think the 1M could persuade me to make the change.

If you love the Porsche get it. C6 is another good option, but it will feel much much larger thN the z

All different cars with different niches. I love the mustang until you have to figure which of the 10 in the parking lot is yours (go with the boss it's limited). Cayman will decently turn heads and usually someone who buys a porcshe takes care of it. How about an Audi TT Coupe. They look good and you can get awd.
|
It really depends on what you are after. To me, steering/road feel is very important and you are not going to get that from the STI or most anything AWD.
Probably of your list the Cayman would be the most interesting to me, although I've heard of crank issues with that motor and of course the maintenance costs would be outrageous compared to the Z. Then again, the Mustang would be worth a look/drive. |
Wow. Your list is all over the place in terms of car types. I can tell you that the Cayman will not fit any of your practical needs in place of the Z. 1 series Bimmers are interesting, but kinda on the low scale of things. I believe you would feel like you made an unnecessary compromise and even a bit cheated in fit/finish/maintence. The STi would be a worth-wild move, but you either love'em ore hate'em. My roomate had on back in 04 and it was pretty good, but felt strange from the driver's seat. I am not even going to speak on the 5.0.
If you need something more practical and you really liked the Z, go with a G37S or IPL (Same mods as 370Z NISMO compaired to 370Z BASE/Touring if you can find it). A little more money, but all of the practical stuff......luxury (if you are into that).......and a worth-wild performer. Plus you can get some interesting mods out there that make it look like a V.36. nissan GTR

If you're not feeling another Z, I'd say go with a 5.0
|
camaro ZL1 or mustang boss 302
|
criteria
the next best bang for the buck choice is Mustang
If not I'm going to wait and go up to a Porsche 911 :driving: |
yeah I like the idea of the Sti but the new one just doesn't sit 100% with me yet in terms of size and performance. I love the power of the 5.0 but I would miss the tight handling of the Z. the 1 series is pretty much out of the question now so I guess I will probably go with the Cayman S.
|
you really need to go with the Porsche, I don't think you will be happy with anything else, unless you get another Z.

I'll either get the next-get Z or maybe a C6. Might also go the cheaper route and check out what the Toyota/Subaru FT-86 has to offer.
