There is a really good documentary about FB on CNBC that really exposes all of the data mining/retention FB does on every user. It's pretty eye-opening how much they know.

Like comparing this social network site with Facebook. It's no different, if anything this is more narcissistic if you think about it. At least with Facebook your not ranting to complete strangers. I get why you have every reason to hate those sites, but it's not the site, it's the people. If you don't want to interact with those people, don't add them as a friend, simple as that. Some people use it. Some don't. If you're not on there, you're a ghost. People said the same thing about texting: "Why not just call the person?" - uh, cause there is a whole dialog that has to happen and waste my time. What if I wanted to text everybody something? What if all those people could choose to read the text or not? Enter Facebook.

See above post. It's not about me adding or not adding friends as i don't have nor will I ever have a face account. It's about most people can't interact with people in real life because of sites like face. This site was meant for info on the Z mostly. I only compared the two to head people off at the pass. Yes word do hurt, but not enough to go out and beat/kill someone over like the face has caused on more than a few accounts. No one that I know of has killed themselves over comments on the370z forum, unlike face.

I have done a fair amount of research into facebook's business practice and I cannot believe some of it is legal. However, you can tweak your privacy and account settings to drastically cut down on what marketing/advertising companies can draw from your account and profile. It is only going to get worse, FB will seek out the maximum amount of possible revenue it can eek out of its users.

Totally agree. Facebook, Twitter etc really annoy the crap out of me.

I can text, Facebook, and forum when I'm bored in class or in the computer lab or something. Sometimes if you're in a public place, you don't want other ppl all up in your business. Also calling someone will at work or in class is a lot less discrete than a text or fb post.
