Imminent Earthquake in North America

Just saw this article. Imminent earthquake between the dates of march 19th-26th. The evidence sounds pretty convincing. What do you guys think about this? All i can say is everybody be prepared. My prayers that this doesn't actually come to a head.

I hope he is not right on his prediction, but the evidence does sound convincing since I know nothing about seismic activity lol

Ya the thing is there is also a lot of evidence pointing to earthquakes not being predictable because they are so random and chaotic. Then again, if you've ever studied chaos theory, you could make the argument that chaos theory has some pretty rigorous mathematics behind it, and it’s possible to model the overall chaotic system with great precision.

TreeSemdyZee 03-18-2011 06:41 AM

Most of the chaos involved is when everybody freaks out and worries about it.
There were "predictions" of a huge earthquake in this area sometime in the last 20 years and everyone was going absolutely bonkers. Question is, what good does it do to worry about it?

Wasn't trying to worry anyone, just making sure my family is prepared.

Guys, come on. This is Fox news aka Fear news.

You're telling me that earthquakes now occur in clockwise patterns and the retired geologist is also an expert biologist who can explain fish kills by impending seismic events? Sorry. Not buying it at all.

All their examples supporting their hypothesis of an impending quake happen to leave out all the whale beachings, fish kills, and close lunar passes that DIDN'T have associated earthquakes...and I'd be willing to bet there are many more of these events without earthquakes than the few they listed that did have earthquakes associated.

I also love how the idiot Fox news people call scientists 'geniuses'. So going to college, receiving a degree, and then consulting for a news station makes you a genius... Einstein would feel slighted.

Sensationalism at its best

They've been predicting a quake on the Canadian west coast for decades now.... we are WAY overdue for one here..... and a big one by the sounds of it. Time will tell..........

kenchan 03-18-2011 03:41 PM

"north america" is a very big place...

wheee! 03-18-2011 03:43 PM

Let's just say "west coast" then....

christian370z 03-18-2011 03:46 PM

The West coast is LONG over due for a major earthquake. Think of the San Andreas fault as two saws with the teeth interlocking. This means that immense forces can build up along the fault as each plate is still being moved in different directions. The reason why this type of fault is particularly dangerous is because one a critical point is reached, all those teeth break and the plates just shear as the energy is released. This has been a risk for decades, not really new news.

any nuclear power plants on the "west coast" :ugh2:

StLRedrider 03-18-2011 04:00 PM

we're over due here also in the mid west. smack dab on the new madrid fault line.

krzykanuk 03-18-2011 04:22 PM

It's a hoax.
