Isn't that all he's been up to lately? Since he fell out of Indy Car that's all he's been back in the news for.

red6spd 11-22-2010 10:39 AM

I really enjoyed it. I think they could have picked better people to host the show (like me LOL) but thats not why I watch it, and having the Z on the next show is big brownie points in my book LOL. I would still rather the orginal.

atl370z 11-22-2010 11:10 AM

I liked, can't wait till the next eps.

spearfish25 11-22-2010 11:40 AM

All I see this season is Tanner praising every car he drives with boyish affection. The beauty of Clarkson is that he nit picks $hit and will come out of left field with wild opinions. He'll hate a Ferrari 599 despite all of its perfection or love a TVR Sagaris despite the hood being about to blow away. Tanner is just going to think every car is 'neato'.

:iagree:

Oh well, I suspect most of us have BBC America, access to the interweb, and a Netflix subscription so we can watch all the right Top Gear episodes.

Seether13 11-22-2010 01:07 PM

I haven't watched it yet, will prob do so later tonight. But give it 3 episodes, if you still don't like it then it is fair. But it takes a bit of time to get used to a copy show when you are already used to the original hosts

6) Bring on Female Host Guests... Every guy likes a hot female host guest and since Men 18-45 are your main target market find a female who can drive! Bring her on the show every now and then and watch the ratings for those episodes go up!

Fixed!! I am sure any man .. of any age .. would find the hot female host more intriguing! LOL

kevr6 11-22-2010 06:34 PM

Finally watched it and the first thing I noticed is the lack of production skill in comparison to the UK original. The next thing is the lack of charisma from each host we are used to seeing.

Love Tanner's driving skill though! I also like their track layout better. Since I'm in it for the cars, I'll be DVRing this along with the UK version for sure! Next episode should be good for us!!

shadow2k 11-22-2010 06:53 PM

Everything seemed forced. They need to trash the scripts and just talk about these cars.

ThoriumHotdog 11-23-2010 12:01 AM

Unnatural.... I'm not impressed. We'll see what it's like halfway through the season. I don't like the total lack of creativity though. They're going to rehash a lot of the great moments of Top Gear which seems cheapish, to me at least.

Still, commercials will ruin this show more than the wooden hosts.

Nikon FM 11-23-2010 12:16 AM

I agree about the lines seeming a bit forced. I was watching hoping things would smooth out but no..too copied.

On the other hand I hope the show keeps going because I like hearing and watching high end cars going fast.

What would totally destroy the show is if budget starts to slim down and the show turns into a "Road and Track" review.

djpathfinder 11-23-2010 01:22 AM

I watched it today and I enjoyed it.

Jamaica 11-23-2010 01:48 AM

next weeks sounds be interesting

Boost_lee 11-23-2010 02:16 AM

Saw it tonight...it was ok. I'll wait and see how it progresses. I do agree though, I enjoy the driving skills of Tanner and the new track

ThoriumHotdog 11-23-2010 02:19 AM

Did anyone else notice how small the Stig is? I'm starting to wonder if the Stig is just a certain host with driving skills.... :)

^ Good point. The new track is pretty cool.

Super Tanooki 11-25-2010 04:20 AM

Just dropped in to let you all know that the first episode is free to download in HD on the PlayStation Store for PS3 if you haven't seen it. It's only free for two weeks though, after which it'll be $2.99 or thereabouts.

Got Sony's newsletter earlier which says they'll be putting the series up as episodes air on TV.

I know a lot of people didn't like it but I thought it was pretty good.
Looking forward to the next Z episode

Lemers 11-25-2010 05:24 PM

I liked it. I'm gonna watch the next one with the Z and so one until something better comes along.

wilsonp 11-25-2010 05:29 PM

There is something better - Top Gear on BBCA. But they might get better with enough time.

Pushing_Tin 12-17-2010 01:02 PM

I've still been watching, it's gotten a little better but has a long way to go. The most recent episode with the F150 Raptor and the HALO jumper was pretty good.

Really? I thought that was the worst so far.

Well they finally had the stig run a car and then they ran the Raptor which was really cool to see. Not sure it was the best episode of the four, but it wasn't the worst either. The BBC version has had 10+ years to perfect the show and chemistry, so I'm willing to keep watching.

crash1369 12-17-2010 11:00 PM

everyone keep saying BBS has had so much time to fine tune things. Yes the first episodes were no where near as entertaining as they are now, that is irrelevant becuase it does not take any time to tune an exact copy. The scene with the rapotor, besides every other show was just a reenactment of the english show. They swapped a lander rover for a f150 to appeal to the Americans and then just remade the other show almost exactly, down to the camera angels and "photo finish" as he swoops by.
They do have an impressive ability to take all of the entertainment out of the shows during this process though.

For a second I actually thought they might at least test the truck, but they just did the same simple things they've show it doing everywhere else with so many cutaways you can never really be sure what is going on anyway. It did take a few easy hit at least though, but I'm still not impressed. That truck is over priced and 87% marketing, but that is another issue :)
I could care less if they did a lap in it or not, but they did say they were going to test every car. So they took an Off-Road pickup truck around a race track but not a sports car they actually should have, that people would actually want to see.

VQinside 12-17-2010 11:16 PM

I hate Taner Faust when he was doing the "battle of the supercars" show
he would always lose even if he had the faster car because he is a drifter not a race car driver.

ThoriumHotdog 12-21-2010 10:04 PM

I thought Top Gear America was getting better until I saw the new Top Gear UK that came on yesterday... wow. I know its unfair to compare but I sure am glad the TG UK is back. :D

Another episodes airs on Christmas day.

BanningZ 01-23-2011 09:54 PM

Season 1 Finale

They summarized the entire season into one episode. Not in a good way. In a way that you could actually watch the entire season in one episode. IMO that is lame. Not something I have ever seen with FatHead, Captain Slow, and Hamster (Even in the first few seasons).

Most episodes were practically a shot for shot remake of Top Gear UK episodes, sometimes even down to the same car.

Foust was funny at times, and is an excellent driver, and was impressive to watch at times.

Rutledge is a lovable comic gold mine and help make the show somewhat watchable.

ADAM FERRARA NEEDS TO FALL OFF THE PLANET! He is not funny (though he thinks he is) and can't driver a car, nor name anything outside of a domestic or the exotics that 12 year olds have hanging on their walls in the form of poster.

First season was passable, but they need to drop Ferrara like a bad habit.

Thoughts now that the season is over?

Cmike2780 01-23-2011 10:16 PM

The "best American truck" episode was one of the better episodes. It didn't seem as "forced." A big part of the apeal of Top Gear is the comradery, something that has been lacking from the beginning. I'd watch the 2nd season if it happens, but they do need to drop Adam. He's worst than the fat guy from the first season of Top Gear UK.

Cmike2780 01-23-2011 10:27 PM

I agree. It is getting better. No where near as polished as the original but it's getting entertaining.

Jamaica 01-24-2011 12:32 AM

the show is ok.

VQinside 01-24-2011 06:36 AM

Tanner Faust is a drifter not a racer.
In "battle of the super cars" he would always make the fastest car lose cuz he doesn't know how to drive.
I think the show is awful, it's just so wannabe.
Also who finishes a season with a recap of the show?!!!
That just means they don't know what else to do already.

Falcor 01-24-2011 07:17 AM

They are relying on the top gear "formula" to make the show entertaining, which isnt what made the original good. It is the Chemistry and the personalities that made it a worth while show. I have to say though I cant stand the gimmicks like the races between bikers and cars and skydivers and trucks. I know that this was part of the original series but it is just so fake. Everyone knows that they are staged, why try to force such a ridiculous concept. How amazing that in every match up the races come down to withing minutes of each other at the finish and almost always cross paths in the middle of the race.

And don't even get me started on that New Yorker guy, did they let him on the show because of his accent? I would rather watch Snookie from the jersey shore than that POS.

wilsonp 01-24-2011 06:03 PM

I thought the truck/Alaska episode was pretty good.

And I think British Top Gear does a recap show, but I don't believe they have such a short season.

Oh, and besides drifting, Tanner is also an American Rally Champion, did European Rally Cross, and the Race of Champions.

Lemers 01-24-2011 06:58 PM

This was a typical first season. Just a few episodes to see if it is sellable. I think the production quality was pretty good but the writing and commentary could improve. I'll keep watching

wretched_z 01-24-2011 09:05 PM

They need to get rid of rutledge, he is very annoying.

Matthew 01-24-2011 09:57 PM

Keep Tanner, fire the other two. And bring Simmon Cowell and Paula Abdul. :pics:
