Living in California just sucked even more now...
okay, so i'm not sure for those that reside in CA know that our freakin' taxes are just about to increase about 1%-1.25%. but its basically 1% increase in taxes. that's freakin' 9.xx% on everything!!!!!
good lord. CA sucks!!! arnold, you are screwing with us!!!!!! |
yes. **** arnold
|
So this is sales tax? We vehimately fight a proposed sales tax every year here in Oregon. we are not fans.

I keep saying, move to phoenix. we have just as much beach, just no water :D
|
LOL! He had no choice but to raise it... He screwed up too much before hand that this was the only option left. I don't plan to even see an income tax refund at all.
Why people voted him in, I just can't understand. He can't even pronounce California. He says something like "Coll-ee-forn-a". That's pretty embarrassing. Well, look on the bright side: Everyone is trying to hold on to their money so much right now that they're not paying attention to anything else that's going on. So when they run out of money FASTER this way, they won't have to worry about their money and they can pay attention to the rest of the current events going on. We're all F$%*ed. |
To think there is a 50/50 chance I'm going to end up in CA in the next 6 months.
Bugger. |

i think it's time to impeach the terminator. didn't he also lay off like 20,000 workers??? damn. |
You think the problems in California stem from Arnold!! Maybe its the huge illegal immigrant population, or the liberal tree hugging environmentalists who run your state. Or the spend and spend liberals like Nancy Pelosi that dug the hole that Arnold has been trying to fill. I'm not a fan of the govenator hes not my style, but this crap wasnt his fault

As to "tree hugging environmentalists. I want a 400HP hybrid. Companies like Toyota have achieved this on a functional concept level. I want to leave something more for my children besides a smoking hole in the ground. On an individual level many of them are too radical, on a collective level it is an important movement that has been quashed for years by OPEC and Capitalistic imperialist followers in the top 1% of our country. Environmentalism is awesome as long as its moderately implemented over time. Its kind of hard to point fingers at Nancy Pelosi when people like Sarah Palin, **** Cheney, and Karl Rove exist out there. Spend and spend? Have you been cryogenically frozen for the past nine years? We had a surplus when you were first frozen. :icon14: drill baby drill??? Yup that's the answer.:gtfo2: |
^^^ Great point.

The short fall of money isn't Arnold's fault, it's the people under him. The California Politicians who have been there for years and years, sucking off the tax payers! |
From the website http://www.articler.com/10519/Illega...And-Cons.html:
1. It helps keep the economy moving by filling low-wage jobs. 2. It provides a better lifestyle for those who enter the country illegally. 3. It creates a pool of consumers for a variety of goods and services. 4. Farmers are able to plant and harvest less expensively. 5. Contributions to social security funds often go unclaimed. 6. Illegal immigrants pay sales taxes. 7. Illegal residents, who are property owners, also pay real estate taxes. 8. Millions of illegals rent properties in depressed areas where renters are hard to find. 9. They purchase real estate and generate commissions for agents and brokers. 10. Illegal immigrants contribute to mortgage loan profits. 11. They open bank accounts that yield interest and dividends to bankers. 12. Many purchase auto insurance and contribute to insurers profits margins. Cons Of Illegal Immigration: 1. Burden on tax-based resources, costing taxpayers billions of dollars. 2. Difficult prosecution and justice when perpetrators flee the country. 3. Disparity between legal immigrants who follow the rules and those who don't. 4. They risk death when traveling the desert to reach the borders. 5. Those who successfully cross the border inspire those left behind to do the same. 6. Continued growth of the demand for cheap labor and low wages. 7. No government reimbursement to offset states' illegal alien maintenance costs. 8. Potential negative effects on working and middle-class citizens. 9. Millions of U.S. dollars remitted to Mexico 10. Mortgage loan fraud 11. Fake document mills 12. Imbalance in authorized immigration quotas Thoughts? |
^ you must have a big personal opinion on the topic as well as you live in Phoenix where there is a huge hispanic population.
I lived and worked in Scottsdale/Phoenix about 4 years ago. The Canadian company I worked for at the time owned a construction company down there. I gotta say that almost the only ppl in Scottsdale I ever saw doing manual labor (landscapring etc) were Mexican. Every morning on the 101 loop, I saw truckloads of mexican workers in backs of trucks heading off to work. The Mexicans I got to meet and work with (mostly at our shop) were all hardworking and honest people. In Canada, the hispanic population is a very small minority but we don't border Mexico either. Isn't the amount of social security benefits and payroll taxes (unrefunded since tax returns are not filed in a lot of cases) a pretty big number? I heard a stat once re those with fake SSNs. |

^ maybe a real dumb question, but where was a wall being constructed that I heard about in the news a few years back. Would that be the California border?
I drove to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Pt.) Mexico a few times and never saw anything. Ever go there for fun? |
Link
There are a few "walls," but one that got some news last was the Texas one. Texas wanted to expand its wall, to something much more expansive than just the chain-link fences. |
Mostly texas I believe. Around 2k miles if I remember right.

Walls have never worked. Our country was founded on immigration and much of it was illegal. People who believe everyone legally immigrated through "Ellis island" are living under a rock. We are deeply affected by illegal immigration here in Oregon. i am not saying I am an expert on it but I have definitely experienced it first hand. Our process for legal immigration is absolutely unfair and ridiculously full of bureaucracy.
I'm a pinko liberal, I know, I know. |

Actually discussing politics is against the rules of the board.
Raised taxes is what happens in a welfare state. Money doesn't grow on cali trees, to support all those insanely large welfare and social programs in cali, you have to tax the people. I wouldn't ever live in cali, regardless of the weather, I just value individual freedoms too much. What happens when there is a pseudo-market economy and the goverment keeps bleeding it to provide for a welfare state which take the power out of the people's hand and put them into the hand thats spoon feeding them their own fecal waste...Keynesian economics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia An opposing viewpoint to the keynesian economics and the thougth process behind True market economies which emphasize the natural and untampered life cycles of the marketsAustrian School - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
