Can't wait!

back to the wheel discussion I found the DF GT wheel for $99 on both amazon and best buy. I have $50 gift card to best buy so really that wheel would only cost me $50. is $99 the normal price or do they occasionally go on sale??

The G27 wheel is $230 on amazon. Is this a good price?

Also, for the hard core guys, eventually I would want a stand for the wheel and pedals + seat that resembles a car better. Any recommendatoins that don't involve spending a fortune (some I saw go for $600). For the time being I will attach the wheel to a desk and pedals on the floor up against the wall.

Both of those prices are darn good ZMan!!!

tough choice! I wonder if should get the GT wheel for now and learn on it while being in budget and then upgrade to a g27 in the future if I want to (then I can do split player with 2 wheels)

I can't apply the bb gift card to the g27 because best buy doesn't seem to carry them.

the G27 is a higher quality wheel but with the DFGT you can switch settings in race and it has the cool GT logo i liked it really for those 2 reasons... and for $30 you can get the paddels that are made by granturgismo.com

to me i would use the gift card and get the DFGT for $50

:tiphat: Thanks for the advice! I think I'll just get that for now and see how it goes.

Thanks MC and Alchemy, rep coming your way

Another thing to consider is how you set it up ZMan. I know not everyone has the money to throw away on driving setups. But, how the wheel is mounted and how your seating makes all the difference. I have a similar setup as MC and while it wasnt cheap it makes the experience all the better. If you are handy, like Eric, you can even build your own.

I wish I had room for a sweet setup... ;(

Yeah eventually I want to get a setup like you guys. Any recommended seats/stand combos?

Btw I'm adding you guys so we can follow eachothers progress :)

The DFFGR is a good wheel and cheap, but there is no clutch pedal. The G27 is quite a step up. If you need Xbox compatibility the Fanatec CSR wheel and pedal combo is excellent, but pricey. I use the Playseat Revolution -- a good seat, but others are nice as well. Earlier in this thread there was some pictures of some home built rigs.

:tiphat: Don't have xbox so that's not an issue. Ill test out the DFGT wheel at see how I like it. for $50 it's not a bad deal. Then later may upgrade to G27 if I get more serious. I'll check out the seat

You could always try looking for the G27 on Ebay.

true, but it's hard to tell on ebay how hard the previous owner used the wheel/pedals. Plus it seems like it's pointless to by the g27 and attach it too a desk. I think one day I'll just get the full setup (g27, seat / stand)

I bought a refurbished G27 directly from Logitech.com for $199. It was missing a plastic screw so they ended up just sending me a new G27.
