I started out with a Honda EK Hatch to build up my experience/funds and have been using the Xanavi Super GT Z lately more than anything else.

Nice! I wouldn't mind building one for the track myself.

You won't start out with much money in the game IIRC so the EK hatch or a Miata will be your best bet.

I think I rocked the Mini Pooper first then my second car was a 370, naturally. You wont regret the purchase. The graphics are sick. I spend hours in photo mode alone.

I won both the Fiat and Lotus events over this past weekend. I just started the STi event and placed 3rd after 3 tries.

You can also start off by doing the license test first. You'll win a prize car to start the game.

B License Gold: TommyKaira ZZ-S '00 (S) *plus silver and bronze prizes
B License Silver: Daihatsu OFC-1 Concept '07 (P) *plus bronze prize

Ill take a look at that STI after work and get a tune dialed in to win that race. I hate AWD, biggest prob is gonna b conquering the understeer!

If I recall correctly you need to buy a car before you can do the license tests ... even though you won't use that car in the tests.
