High school friends

Just wondering how many people here actually keep up with their best friends from high school? Seems like I only talk to or hang out with one or two from HS the rest are from college. After I graduated there I can see my college friends slowly dwindling down. It's odd when you think about it. How quickly the people you once hung out with everyday, you never talk to anymore.

:crying:

I've got about a dozen good friends I still talk to. Married, Married, Jail, Engaged, Married with kid, Married and pregnant, Moved, Married and moved, Married with kid and moved, Married with kid and pregnant.

Being the single guy is odd lol.

m4a1mustang 09-27-2010 09:02 AM

I only keep up with the friends from high school that went on to be successful. Some of my friends back then didn't amount to anything so no point in keeping up with them... lol.

shadoquad 09-27-2010 09:54 AM

I only hang with one friend from hs. I grew apart from the rest. That's what happens. You age, your interests evolve, you move on. But the funny thing about life is that you may run into these folks later!

I ran into one a year or so ago at the gas station. He was the cashier. It was wierd.

vipor 09-27-2010 10:01 AM

Yeah I love (?) seeing ppl I knew in HS still waiting tables or working at bars.....

One girl I went to HS with and had a few classes with was waiting tables at Hooters when I was going to college. She then went on to become a model for Playboy. I pretty much figured that's where she'd end up.

vipor 09-27-2010 10:06 AM

Hey that's a win in most girls' books lol

red6spd 09-27-2010 10:12 AM

The amount of friends I had suddenly took a downward slope once I got my Z, weird.

theDreamer 09-27-2010 10:24 AM

I keep up with a few, interests change or people have moved.

Jeffblue 09-27-2010 10:43 AM

me and steve were good friends in HS. Then he moved to NOVA, and we don't really keep in touch anymore.

I hang out with 1 or 2. And zero from college. Just too far away from where I live. And I don't have a Facebook account, so that kind of helps. You will soon find out that your neighbors, and the parents of your kids friends will become your closest friends.

I talk to a few of my best friend from highschool still and one from college. Well, I still talk to a BUNCH of people form my college days, but most of them are former co-workers and not fellow students.

I think it's funny that we all grew up seeing in movies and TV how friends grow apart as they get older and saying "that won't be us!" Well, it's totally us now lol.

One of my college friends got married last october and found out a couple months ago that he's expecting. It made me feel like I am way behind. :icon18:

I think I'm the only single one out of my core group of college friends. Most are on the marriage train now.

Can't let that bother you. Many people get married too early and end up with messy divorces. You know that saying, "tis better to have loved and lost than to have not loved at all"? That was coined before the age of alimony and child support.

My mistake, they were married in '08.

And whoever coined that saying should be shot. Its a crock of ****.

vipor 09-27-2010 01:52 PM

I have too many friends that are already having marital issues. A couple cheatings (both the woman cheating - whores lol) and just general issues. No divorces. Yet.

Well, our society has evolved. Nowadays, people plan on multiple marriages. Marriage isn't really a binding commitment anymore. It's just a convenient financial tool.

Don't let it get you down.

As far as friends, they come and go. You may lose some over time, but you'll make new ones along the way as well.

And not every relationship is doomed to fail.

Cmike2780 09-27-2010 02:38 PM

I found a couple of girls who I thought smokin' hot in high school turn into either chubby housewives or party girls with high mileage (think Amy Winehouse). I wasn't exactly the most popular kid in High School, but I'm kind of glad I wasn't. It's seemed like those people kind of peaked and it all turned downhill after graduation.

Distance certainly makes a huge difference when keeping in contact with friends. I went to college in Buffalo, NY and hardly talk to anyone after graduation since most of them either moved to different states or countries. Its not exactly easy to hang out when you have work and your own crap to deal with. Wasn't until I started going on Facebook did I find out some were married or getting married.

The divorce rate drops significantly based on the age you are when you marry. Wait until your late 20's and you'll be fine. That way you have a better view of the other person's life (career, drive, lifestyle, etc.), and you can see if the woman has devolved into a troll. The late 20's is when poor lifestyle choices start to catch up with you and you either make it to the level or don't.

If I talk to 3 people from highschool that would be alot. And I still live in the general area, it's not like I graduated and moved across the country. I just have no desire to talk to them and they have no desire to talk to me. I miss highschool, I never had so much fun, and I still had hair
