Part of the reason why Asian kids (like myself) do so well in school is because their parents still have that old school mentality where you need to work your azz off and get A's in everything or else. When you become more lenient, the kids don't care as much either.

My parent's didn't push me to get straight A's, they just said if you want to go far in life, that's what you should aspire to. And if you don't, life is going to suck later on.

Mine didn't either, but from a young age doing really well in school made me happy and made them happy. That made me want to keep doing better. Of course then they expected the same from my 2 younger sisters which didn't really happen :p

Now that I'm in college I can hide my grades from my parents and just lie to them about it. I do get mostly A's and B's, but I just gotta not tell them about the 2 C's I've gotten :icon17:
