He forgot to Wash His Hands.

JARblue 08-19-2022 12:00 PM

He might be in Vegas. I'll go do some burnouts in his driveway and see if he comes outside.

Great ride on the dragon today, not in the Z, but in my Miata, top down and music blaring, good weather and blue sky... Beat way to start the weekend...

I'd try bedding the brakes first. YMMV

Mine got a bath: Reset and some reload spray by Car pro...

Car was garaged for 7 years, now parked outside the past year.

The ceramic coating from carpro has truly been a wonderful investment of time/effort.

Question: has anyone here done just a very basic engine clean on their 370z? I've never cleaned mine since I bought new, but I think it's time to spray it down. I've only used simple green in the past. Any suggestions? Any areas to avoid?

In Arches National Park (I've done about 120+ trips to Arches in the past 14 months...) - That's the "Three gossips" and "Sheeprock" in the backround

I bought 2 of these garden sprayers. One has Simple Green in it and the other has water. They work great because you can control the spray and keep the Simple Green and water away from area's you don't want/need it

I spray down some cleaner like carpro multix, then cover that with a blast from the foam cannon.
Then scrub with my wheel brushes.
Finish the Koch Chemie motorplast
Haven't had a problem yet.

The vibration is present under throttle and cruising. Braking makes it go away once the speed decreases below 50 mph.

I generally don't have a problem with brake pad deposits. I brake hard all the time and I don't stand on them at rest.

JARblue 08-22-2022 04:41 PM

Good evening Gentlemen…

I did a track day at Sebring on Saturday and it was great…. Lots of fun and lots of learning..

I have a question for others that have done this though…. My tires have hot rubber from the track stuck to them. Should I try to scrape off these heavy deposits or will it wear off eventually? What is the best way to get this off?

It is probably affecting the tire balance

The balls of rubber will come off with some street driving. It's not a big deal. To get the rubber to stick like that. You had the tires hot. :driving: So........when is your next trackday? Glad you had fun.

yikes!

How'd the supra do on the track?

markesc 08-23-2022 08:20 PM

Yeah I want to get the inside of the hood; it's never been touched so..kinda lookin ghetto with all the dust living in the SW the past 2.5 years;

Any area under the hood I should avoid? I was going to do it on a cool morning and then let it sit for a day (it's 90+ degrees so it won't take long to dry out)

If anyone here plans to drive through Monument Valley and there's a dust storm - just beware - your Z1 intakes will get completely taken out/covered in thick layers, so plan on doing a cleaning. The dust in that area is a more of a fine powder that gets into every f'n thing... even the longtubes in the bumper...

Other than the engine cleaning: I got a Sylvania headlight cleaning kit (has sandpaper; clear coat; etc) - that's next once we have cooler weather.. any tips? I'm regretting not having the headlights ppf'd from day one...

Haven’t got a plan yet. They have a hotel at Sebring in turn 7, so Debbie also watched the whole day unfold from the balcony. A couple of guys crashed in front of her. She was amazed everyone was running so hard.

Smooth as glass. Precise and predictable. 140 felt like 40, very nice.

Glad I didn’t let the opportunity go by. There were 7 Supras there, along with various Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes, Porsches and also a 350Z

About 20 cars in each of my four 30 minute track times
