Covid just sucks all around. Neighbor's sister got it from her husband who recovered a few weeks ago but she wasn't so lucky. They had to pull the ventilator the other day. They didn't believe in the vaccine. My neighbor same way but I'm not so sure what he thinks now. It's a shame and very sad.

Good morning folks! Car is still a work in progress…getting my R888R’s installed soon as they were delivered last week as same for the Recaro Speed V seats that can accept a 6 pt harness. Waiting to hear news/update on that perhaps next week.

Part of me wants a ride, the other part is 'no, because then you'll want the same in your car'. I'll listen to the other part, because someone would kill me in my sleep if I dropped that kind of coin on my car. :eekdance:

I'm not sure how to take this. Last time I checked, this was still a free country, where people have the right to make decisions about things that affect their lives. Some people are fast to say 'my body, my choice' when it comes to allowing women access to abortions, but say 'you must get a shot you don't want, because we say so'. There is something wrong there.

I chose not to get the shot(s). Why? Because they are not really a 'vaccine'. They are just like the annual flu shot, they don't prevent you from getting the disease, they just lessen the effects. A true vaccine prevents you from getting the disease you are being innoculated against, like polio & smallpox. I don't get the annual flu shot either, I quit taking those in 1993, just before I retired from the Marines. We had to get the flu shot annually, and every year, I got sick with the flu. Since I've quit getting the shot, I've had the flu twice in 20+ years.

BTW, for the record, I did have the CCP disease in November. It was like have a bad case of the flu. :shakes head:

You're absolutely right about the vaccine part. I love telling people I'm not vaccinated. Oh you mean did I get the covid shot? Yeah, I have it. And no, that does not mean I'm vaccinated

However, I will argue that it does reduce the transmission effectiveness of the virus. Someone with the shot will take a larger viral load to become infected than someone without the shot. So while it does not prevent (nothing does), it is a good thing for the whole of society. But someone's personal choice makes no difference to me as long as they don't care about my personal choices. I got my shots because my mom asked me to for her Mother's Day gift last year.

I don't want anyone to get the virus. It's all about compassion for other folks. Folks are getting it with the shots and without them. It's crazy how the virus jumps around. It just does what viruses do. They shut down the schools here because 17 teachers were out and many students also. I don't wish any bad things on anyone. I wish I could say the same for others.

My sister in law got it by going to see her father at the nursing home. She took her mask off for one quick minute so her father could see who she was. That's all it took. The nurse that came in had tested positive that morning. Another nurse told her this when she was walking out of the room. She put her mask back on but it was too late. She got Flurona. Had it coming out both ends and a high fever. She is doing better now but still has no appetite.

Spooler 01-13-2022 11:06 AM

For someone to say what was said yesterday is purely disgusting. I'll leave it at that. She had all 3 of her shots. It didn't matter.

Tell her that popsicles help. Crazy, but it works. The popsicles help with the dehydration and the sweetness is enough to stimulate the appetite again.

When women fight about abortions, saying my body, my decision. It should apply to the vaccine too. If you do or don't take the vaccine, mask or not. It's your responsibility for your own body, not the gov't dictating on what to do. With the gov't saying what you must do. It's becoming a dictatorship. We are losing our liberty. It's my body, my decision, my responsibility, my health and safety. And can live with that. Not the gov't forcing something into my body that I'm not sure about. What ever happened to;

"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

The gov't is stepping all over this. I've had the "Wuflu" in Jan of 2020. I got my shots and booster. Think we had the "O" flu the end of Dec. If the shots made a difference, I don't know. Do I trust the shots? No, but we will have to wait years to find out. The gov't went about this the wrong way. Instead of trying to force something down your throat. Passive educate people. You get more with honey then vinegar. The more you try to force it. The more resistance.

And we a demented potato in office.

Leingod 01-13-2022 02:01 PM

I sorta prefer vinegar over honey. More uses in culinary than just another sugar substitute. Hahahaha

You are not mandated anymore. SCOTUS struck it down. They keep it for some Health care workers only.

They struck nothing down. They just granted emergency relief for the plaintiffs while the actual case is argued at the District Court level.

I hear you, but Public Health by definition is authoritarian: "Do this for the greater good of the community." Just like vaccines are mandated for schoolchildren and college students.

Now, the federal gov't is not, in my learned legal opinion, granted the 'police power' under the Constitution to mandate shots. That's reserved to the states; who absolutely have the power to mandate a shot.

I would also say the situation has changed. In that there was a more cogent argument for making people get a shot back when we thought it would prevent infection and thus prevent community spread. Then there was a case for being pissy at people who wouldn't get it. But now that the shot only ameliorated symptoms and doesn't prevent community spread, it's a whole different ballgame.

That being said, I don't think those who were originally against the shot can cite in support of their position that it doesn't prevent community spread. It's disingenuous; no one truly knew that was the case until Omicron in December.
