Someone help me with this lower control arm ball joint. I rounded off the castle nut. Can't get a socket on it cause of the driveshaft. Any options I can try before just cutting it off?

Can you go get a castle nut wrench. IIRC they look like the kind of wrench for adjusting suspension. Dunno if they have the right size but I would think it should fit in a small space.

EDIT: Or similar a pin spanner like southark said below

I've seen people use a spanner wrench* on castle nuts but have never done it myself.

*IIRC, it's called a spanner wrench. Flat, semicircle with "nub" at one end of inner arc to catch gap in castle nut.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I took a chisel to it for a minute. Then I borrowed a 30 mm 12 pt socket and removed the driveshaft to get it out of the way. Hammered on a socket over the rounded edges and chiseling slag and the impact gun made quick work of it. The passenger side should be about an hour job after the driver side experience

I can see why book rate is $2K at the dealer and $1300 for the local shop. There are several individual items that can potentially be a big pita. But I don't feel like it was a particularly difficult job. With the right tools.

The real takeaway is I need better wrenches. And that's gonna be expensive :shakes head:
