Summer tires and rain don't mix, especially when they start to get a little worn. :eekdance:

We had driven the Z up to Platte City one weekend and on the way home, hit some rain. Much over 50 MPH was a crap shoot, the rear end was super squirrelly. We bailed off the highway and took surface streets home. :icon14:

What tires were you running? I've never had issues with my P4S, part of why I'm sticking with them. On the other hand, when my Continental Extreme Contact wore to a certain point, they hydroplaned like crazy.

I don't remember. I want to say they were probably the stock Advans, but I did notice that the dealer I bought it from switched the back tires from side to side. When I got new tires, I noticed that the tread was worn on the outside, instead of the 'normal' inside. The print-out I got after the alignment showed it was within spec before they tightened it up. I don't drive the car unless it's sunny outside with no rain in the forecast after that incident. The tires I have now will let me pull the car out in the winter, provided there hasn't been any snow recently.

I've been having decent luck with my firehawk 500s. Cheap decent summer tire as long as you don't do something overly stupid.

What's everyones current rec on places to shop for tires? Rears are just about down to the wear bars, and its time to start getting replacements lined up. I'll be likely going with Michelin Pilot 4s again, still on stock sport rims.

I normally use tire rack. Shopped around but can't find much price variation.
