My neighbors 13’ Nismo was at the beach in Charleston recently & road flooded with water 1/2 way up door while parked.
Unsure details, trying to start engine, etc.....but insurance totaled car & she may have options to purchase it back.
It’s the one that I recently put the Stage 1 clutch w/Cmak + complete fluid change all over.
Z has around 68-70k on dial....only mod is cmak

I want the spoiler off of it. I'll pay good money for it.

Yesterday turned into a fairly good reminder of why you sometimes need a literal rainy day fund. Wife called me at work informing me that the back wall of the garage had collapsed into the garage itself, and a mixture of mud and water had followed it in. The Z was in the garage, along with all of my tools and a good bit of other stuff. I talked her through backing the Z out of the garage, rushed home, and we managed to pretty much carry everything of much value out.

Still hadn't collapsed so I took apart some of my work bench for materials, braced the 2x4s against the ceiling on 3 floor jacks, and that's how it sits.

Then another tree came down in my yard and missed taking out the power line to the house by literal inches (it hit the line but did not take it out).

Power was out till around midnight. Stuff happens but man yesterday can suck a fat one. Oh and our insurance company pretty much told us there's no way they'd cover that kind of damage since it involves water and movement of earth.

Well I almost got one side done on the M3. I got the new bushing pressed in about 80% of the way when my threaded rod snapped. Looks like I'm going to order a specialty tool for this crap :shakes head:

Recent word on my neighbors Z, it was saltwater from the marsh that flooded in & got as high as seat bottoms....lights were flickering by themselves & killed battery.
Insurance company deemed total loss & she supposed to be finding out buy back price.

The car would only be good for part out. In some states, you can't sell a car that's been in a flood. If she buys the car back. Fixes everything that's wrong. She might not be able to sell it later on.

It's toast, the electrical is done for. If someone tried to crank the engine chances are good that it hydro locked it and bent a rod. If it is in your garage, push it out in the yard and wait for the tow truck from insurance company.

I'll be doing a deep review of the policy for loopholes. Regarding rainfall, I'm not sure, but we're only about 5 miles from Upper Darby as the crow flies, so I'd imagine a similar amount. Put it this way - driving home, police had shut down I476 and a number of other local roads due to flooding, and I can't recall the last time that happened. That's saying nothing of the debris - rocks and trees - that came down. I felt like I was driving through an obstacle course.

Specialty tool is on backorder for a couple of weeks from pretty much everywhere. Headed to the auto parts store with the bushing to see if they have something that might work. Wish me luck :ugh:

No tool at the auto parts store will fit the RTAB. So I guess I'm ordering the specialty tool and waiting for that.

On the other hand, the new starter for the Lexus should arrive at the auto parts store in a couple of hours. I've already got the old one off - it actually fired up this morning after cooling down overnight :rolleyes:
But it definitely needs replacement. Starting it up early this morning, it sounded like an 100 yr old man wheezing for about 4 seconds before the engine finally cranked :rofl2:

I remember those. Used to use them with a mag-base drill. Hated doing that job. :rofl2: Seem like it took forever. :icon14:

I've been reading that it was 2750 tons of NH₄NO₃.

That's what they are. I junked out 8 of them. If he can use them for anything I'll save them
