Pa. is shutting down. Only essential businesses are staying open. Meaning I'm still working. Big box store.

Iran released people with sentences less than 5 years in length last month. They only kept the political prisoners and the hard core in.

At which point will it become clear that all these gov imposed measures to contain or flatten the curve will result in a much worse longterm national and global situation (mass unemployment, decimated 401Ks, bankruptcy, foreclosures, increased violent crime...) than to just let this thing run it's natural course and be over sooner? I'm not suggesting one approach over the other... just expecting the pendulum to take a different course at some point when the pain starts to get real and widespread.

I was thinking about this too. Given the circumstances and the way different world governments are handling (or lack of) the situation, I'm thinking a recession is in the near future, which in turn yields to what you mentioned :ugh2:

But you and I have it easier than most, as we don't have property taxes on our cars nor state income tax :happydance:

Well, if from the very beginning, everybody (governments and citizens) were correctly informed and treated this with urgency, these government imposed measures wouldn’t have been needed.

Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan never reached the exploding/compounding stage because every citizen bought-in from the very beginning, nobody was complacent. Those countries kept the spread under control, and infected rate was kept at very small increment (linear curve, never reached exponential).

Other populations that exhibit ill-informed complacency are now paying the price. Many populations chose way of life and economy over taking preventive measures. Now, those populations must swing back to taking drastic measures just to preserve lives.

I read about the DDOS attack on HHS but they hadn't pinned the blame on anyone at that time. Link?

Unless the US gobmint takes draconian measure (eg, martial law), a lot of their efforts are in vain. There are too many bozos out there who, even when informed, will break quarantine and do other bone-headed things.
