No problems in my area. It's just the bigger cities with all the nut jobs that are having issues.

Give it time.

With the long lag between exposure and symptoms (and people may be contagious after symptoms disappear), plus the folks that refuse to self-quarantine, it's going to spread. For those of us in rural areas, it may take a little longer to get here, but it will.

As far as people freaking out, that's going on in cities of all sizes. My tiny burg is out of TP and most meats right now. (I can understand the run on meat and other foods, but a roll of TP lasts a long time. You don't need to buy it up by the grocery cart. Get a 24-pack and leave some for others.)

I have a friend that eats take-out a lot. He's thinking about selling paper napkins for $1 a piece on Ebay. Most are plain white but some of them have pretty graphics. Get 'em while they're hot! :)

Some of the stuff I've read last night says we are about 10 to 14 days behind Italy and their issues. It's going to get worse before it gets better. Some of the reports out of Europe is saying the young are getting it too now.

There is a thing called viral load. It's how much infection you get the first time. Say you pick up a few viruses floating around. It will take about 60 hrs before you come down symptoms and your body has a chance to fight back.

Now if someone coughs and you're in the direct path of it. And you get a truck load of viruses. You may only have 4 hrs before you show symptoms. The virus will hit you harder because your body had less time to start fighting it.

I"m not sweating the TP hoarding. I have firearms and ammo, I'll just track down who's hoarding and take what I need....:stirthepot:

Seriously, some of the folks on YT need to chill tf out. Being prepared is a good thing, but continuing to spread information that is not confirmed or is made up, is just criminal. :shakes head::shakes head:

The declaration in Champaign doesn't surprise me, it's Illinois after all... and it's downwind from Chicago, so the manifest stupidity flows south..

I'm for good, common sense type of things, but with the level of stupid people out and about, I'm pondering staying home for a couple of weeks and letting Darwinism take its course. It's well past time for the thinning of the gene pool, it's overflowing with idiots that procreate mindlessly.... :icon23:

Confucious say: "Stay strapped or get clapped" :bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:

The more we quarantine the longer this shìt will take to settle. I'm thinking people with the virus should stand on a street corner and cough on people lined up waiting. Like when parents used to send their kids over to play with that kid down the street who had the measles or chickenpox. That way we can just get it over with.

If we had the medical facilities to handle every one at once, that might not be a bad idea. But we don't, so it's not. "Flatten the curve"

That exactly what we did at the asylum with all the news about the virus!
The warden said lets have all of them infected so we dont have to worry about segregating them.

The next morning we all had a memo “Open season Group hug in the showers” :ugh2:

Exactly. The idea and hope is to "distibute" the hospitalizations over time to a point where our facilities aren't overwhelmed.

JARblue 03-16-2020 09:46 AM

Our healthcare infrastructure isn't even close to capable of handling something like this. I wasn't suggesting that we treat people. Let them contract it and then go home. One of two things will happen.

JARblue 03-16-2020 09:48 AM

Btw everyone... unless you have explosive diarrhea, you don't need to wrap your hand like you're making a boxing glove out of TP to wipe your âss. Five squares folded properly should be plenty for most bowel movements.
