:tup: yep, same concept here. The raspberry Pi is the gateway to the network/interwebs. I can ssh into it from phone and use a simple app to control the relays manually if wanted or needed.

My buddy installed motors on his mini blinds. If he's away from home for any extended periods of time he can open and close them from his app to make it appear that someone is home. Of course everything else in his house runs through his system too.

I am real picky about IoT stuff and 'smart house' products. Even Alexa is banished to the garage on its own vlan.

Same here. My buddy got involved with Amazon and his system is run through Alexa also.

The controls guys at the office try to explain that **** to me. I stop at knowing the difference between direct I/O and I to P, then knowing what each of the symbols on the P&ID do (i.e. a control valve, shutdown valve, level controller, etc.). I joking tel them, I know I run these projects but you have to remember I’m the dumb structural engineer.

I have a Pi. It runs my emulator.

Speaking on that. I picked up some PS clone usb controllers thinking they would be plug and play. Not so much. Would you happen to know how to get them to work with my emulator?

At the power plant. You make a move on the computer to switch some piece of equipment out in the plant. The signal would go from digital to fiber optic in the control room. Out to the MCC building. Switch back from fiber optic to digital, to 4 to 20 milliamp analog signal. Then go to the piece of equipment that you wanted to make the change on. :icon14:
