We hit that detour last summer going to Denver. That added some time to the trip.

Trying to decide how far to go tearing apart the front end of the Z to save on labor costs. Considering buying a manifold and vacuum pump for the AC refrigerant. Not sure it's worth it though...

Shouldn't cost that much to evac and recharge the system.I get 89$ plus refrigerant.

You can get one through autozone's tool rental program.
I think the deposit comes close to 400 all in but you get it back upon return. Just make sure you oil the vacuum pump.

:iagree:
This, or have someone else do it. It's not worth buying the equipment. Advanced Auto has it too.

Taking it to a shop for evac isn't an option in the condition it's in. I'll be towing it to Austin Z Clinic for a few things behind the front timing cover once my oil pump gears show up. So I'm tearing down the whole front end in anticipation of that. The dismantle is nearing a halt because I can't remove the radiator without disconnecting the condenser. I either do it myself or leave it for the shop.

When I worked for Elliott. Had a guy that lived a block away from the shop. He was ALWAYS 15 minutes late for work. :shakes head:

A $75 kit isn't worth it? F2C 1/3 HP w/manifold. I realize it's cheap, but I'm not asking it to do much. Gonna at least ask my neighbor down the street - he's the guy with car parts in his kitchen sink.

Just before I punch in. Morgan the stoner punches in and takes off. I punch in and walk back to my work area. Morgan shows up about 15 minutes later. He asks me what I'm doing here. I tell him that he better check the schedule. He did and took off. Dumb chit scheduled to have today off to begin with. :shakes head: :rofl2:

What's all in the kit?

It doesn't sound like you have everything that you need.

Can't find the exact store I saw earlier. But it was this one, which is closer to $100 shipped. I won't be ordering from Amazon though.
