Passed out at 6 last night and didn't move until just now. Happy knowing I am still very proficient at practicing for when I'm dead.

Fun fact, the armor that surrounds the CPU in the black boxes of airplanes is made from solid blocks of inconel. When we machined them we used ceramic with no coolant (obviously) and spun the cutters at 18K rpm. Molten chips of inconel flying puts on a good show.
This video is mild. We threw steady streams of chips that actually melted the plastic safety windows on the machine lol.

Our retorts for our furnaces are inconel. We heat product to over 2100° every run, and that stuff takes a beating. That being said, the retort slowly distorts over time from the weight of the product inside and the heat to which it is subjected, eventually being replaced by a machinist like you!

If it’s anything like mine, it can’t hurt you.

It sounds much cooler than it actually is. I rarely set foot in our heat treat department in the summer unless I want to lose 30% of my bodyweight in sweat. I too prefer AC.

Time for some Fallout 4 with a side of Futurama and King of the Hill.

JARblue 08-22-2019 09:03 AM

I'm not happy with my financial situation currently. I think my money would be better served elsewhere. So I'm selling the house and using the equity to build the Z :D  :driving: ;)
