If you have a beater car, strap a 8×4 backed with thick foam onto its bumper and drive into the impacted side of the Z a couple times at ab 5 mph. Does the trick every time.

It depends on the state and who's at fault. If someone sideswiped you, then it will depend on insurance company and complete condition of the car, all the way down to paint & tires. :icon14: When my 2012 got totaled, the adjuster gave me credit for newish tires, and I lost a couple of bucks because of paint swirls. :icon14::icon14:

If the state says 'you must be made whole', that could include diminished value. Do some research on what your car is worth (before the accident) and then you will have a ballpark idea of value. Be ready to prove higher value in case the insurance company lowballs you.
