You going to reach over and grab the steering wheel to put the newbie in the right spot on the track? First an instructor did that to me. I about freaked.

LOL, I paid for instruction with Steven Dougherty one of Nissan Challenge winners. He was trained European style and he ask me if would be comfortable if he reached over and grabbed the wheel to make corrections. I said it would be fine since he told me up front. It was still a little unsettling when he did it. I actually liked it because you got to feel what to do and that it wouldn't kill you lol.

They told me up front about the instructors reaching over to correct you. The first time it happens. It's like :wtf:

Next paycheck will fall on May 3 (last one before Zdayz) & will have around 45 hours of OT on it,along with the regular 2-week 80 :yum:
Can’t understand why these younger fellas don’t take them up on the OT offering/as they’d rather complain about being broke :ugh2:

They lack discipline. Aside from the mandatory 2-week vacation, I haven't worked less than 60 hours of OT per pay cycle in the past two years. It's like yes more money please! Until the govt comes and takes a third of it...

I used to avg over 600 hours a year in OT at the power plant. Some would avg over 1,300 a year. Had 8 hours of OT built into each 2 week paycheck. The way my work schedule was . I would get 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next week.

Leingod 04-20-2019 07:16 AM

First time working a Saturday in a very long time. Enjoying some final fantasy 7 and taco hell breakfast.

The only reason I work is FOR THE MONEY !! Even now at almost 63 yrs.of age I'll still pack in as much OT as possible ! Some of these younger guys say well I've got this and that to do so you can have the OT, I say thank you very much. They are also the guys who stop at 7-11 every morning and drop $7-8 on cigs. energy drinks & snacks but can't afford a full set of tires when they need them all while carrying 25k in credit card debt :shakes head:

With the OT. I maxed out my 401K. I was putting in $23,000 a year in for about the last 10 years or so. Before that, I think it was $18,000 a year. Plus putting money into my IRA. Social Security would stop taking their cut out of me in Oct.

JARblue 04-20-2019 08:43 AM

That's exactly what my last 8 yrs. of employment has been all about, was eligible to retire @ 55 but I was still too young and didn't want to go to work for someone else for less $ now with my wife's and my pension, investment distribution, SSI we'll have a 6 figure a year retirement

old guy 04-20-2019 08:48 AM

Worked 16 hrs. Thursday afternoon and didn't get off until 7am Friday, and yeah it kicked my aZZ and takes a couple of days to recover..... but the short term pian will pay off in a longer term gain

Leingod 04-20-2019 09:15 AM

I'm basically nodding off at my desk. Downloaded FF7 on my switch to entertain me for the remaining 4 hrs here.

I'm close to 6 figures in retirement. Would have been over if I would have stuck to my plan instead of being talked into retiring at 60. Wifey is 3 years older then me. The plan was for her to go to 65. But her company (WPX) closed up shop here when natural gas prices dropped in 2013. WPX gave her an early retirement package at 61. I was go to 62 or 65. Well.........the wifey got lonely being home and I'm still working. So she talked me into retiring early. If I would have stayed to 62. That would have been another $46,000 into 401K plus another $50,000 into my Cash Balance plan, plus more into my IRA. If I would have gone to 65. 401K would have an extra $115,000. Cash Balance would have $125,000. IRA would have been real healthy.

With the power plant being sold to Dynegy just before I retired, and voting a union in. I don't know if I could handle managements new attitude without putting one of them in the grave. A year after the sell. Vistra bought Dynegy. Since I left. Half the crew has left and got jobs with other companies. Things have really gone down hill. So.....in hind sight. Maybe it was good for me to leave went I did.

Every place we go to. I get a post card and sent it to the power plant. Telling them what a great time we are having. The last thing I write on the post card is, "Yinz miss me?" :rofl2:

You are lucky. I got a late start in life. I am just going to have fun. F it. You are the last generation with a real retirement.

Spooler 04-20-2019 03:56 PM

The weather sucks today. Cold, windy, and threatening rain. Guess I will be mowing grass on Easter Sunday. Oh well.

No this is at my youngest daughters house in Wilson. Our house in Shelby will be going up for sale in about 5 weeks. I am currently doing some repairs and painting there as well.

I am putting money away. Don't think I am not. I just won't have 2 million stashed away when I retire.
