If the family doesn't have a lot of assets and doesn't make a lot of money they should definitely try getting the government to pay for it. My idiot friend got drunk, fell backwards off a mobile home porch railing, broke his neck, and got $90K worth of medical bills paid by the federal government because he had $400 in his bank account and no assets at the time of his surgery. Thanks Obama!!

I rent a server in an eastern european country.

My day to day VPN is through P.I.A. as they supposedly don't log anything* and have servers across 33 countries.

I run my PIA account through a secondary local encrypted server just in case. And certain activities get an isolated machine with several randomly-routed encrypted connections before even hitting the local server. You know... for porn and such
