We are on day 3 of no network, no internet, no computer usage at work. Supposedly corporate got hit with ransomware.

Does corporate need a competent IT Consultant? :hello:

Yeah, if they had backups, theyd be up and running by now. But ransomware shouldnt take down their network, unless their IT guys are REALLLLLLY freaking out..lol

We stay until a solution is working and all systems tested and verified up. Longest Ive been there is 21 hours straight. They will provide sleeping accommodations and food but your azz aint going nowhere.

My longest work day was 32 hours. Had to set up a new router and deploy a new Terminal Operating System in New York. Got to the site at 7am, user support for the day, then deploy the OS and new router after hours. New software had problems so I was on the phone with the developers til 5am. Stayed til 9am to make sure everything is ok. On my way to the Hotel, boss calls me saying the site in New Jersey needed assistance. Didnt get back to my hotel room til 3pm..

We can't do anything without approval from corporate first. So we're still waiting on that.

That would have made me pretty unhappy. Probably my worst work-related experience was having to go into work on a Saturday to explain to a room full of Sikorsky execs why one of their 30 million dollar helicopters was stuck in a hanger, because my boss 1) decided to arbitrarily make a process change without informing anyone and 2) went golfing and sent me to the office to take the call on his behalf, since he didn't feel like stopping.

I was not allowed to use the "My boss is an idiot" excuse.

The problem too is that our network and internet is routed through our sister company in Fargo so no telling if it originated from there or Miami corporate.

I can toss a movie or two onto my seedbox which you can stream through plex.

Once I pass 14 hours at work, I get into almost a trance where I just keep working. Its weird, hard to explain.

Times like you described is when you develop BS skills. I tell people that I dont really know what Im doing, I just talk and make them THINK I know what Im doing!

Ordered a few more tools for the new tool cart. Cant have the drawers empty :ugh2:
