I have been running spacers on my Z almost since I bought it. I run them with one of my sets of track wheels. One of the professional race drivers that used to frequent the forum said his racecar had them so they could run a square setup. I know of several other track enthusiasts that run them as well and I have not heard of any failures due to spacers since I have been on the forum.

Other than not seeing a torque wrench throughout the video, and what looks like using a ratchet wrench on their lug nuts, what else did they do wrong?

My buddy has a drifting shop and has built a bunch of drifting cars, he uses spacers on a few of his cars... but then again, he knows what hes doing, i dont..lol

That’s pretty bad. The tolls in Houston are reasonable, I guess.

It is about paying attention and doing things right. Using proper wheel studs with proper installation. Paying attention torque requirements and such. Most mechanical failure are operator error. I'm not saying that all parts are created equal and that even reputable companies will not have bad batches or runs of parts. I think if you your part to eliminate stupid, then your chances of bad things happening is significantly decreased.

Yup. If I were to run something like spacers, thats something I would never cheap out on, nor take any shortcuts. Not that I dont have confidence in my abilities, but due to the fact that Ive been putting a ton of miles like theres no tomorrow, I think spending the extra cash on the proper wheels is worth it. If not just for the time it would take for me to having to keep checking torque.

Agreed, if you can get the setup you desire without having to use spacers then do it. The more extra parts the more points of potential failure. My main set of track wheels are 18x11 +18 square and I run no spacers and I still check the torque frequently lol.
