That is pretty much how I do it. Trimming the ends after flattening them/holding them together is pretty key. Its the pinching and sliding them into proper slots in the terminal is the pain sometimes.

Same. Until pinching them doesn't want to work. Then I just swear and start cramming everything possible into a terminal asking it who the dirty bitch is now.
