My nephew just got his permit in NY. He lives in Buffalo.... :ugh2:

I'm not sure how long it took to get....:roflpuke2:

5 hour training class

Wait about 3 hours to get a massive packet of paperwork at the local office

Fill out all paperwork in blue ink only. Bring paperwork back to office and wait 3 more hours to deliver.

Get call from cops 3 weeks later to set up appointment to do fingerprints 3 months from now.

Do finger prints and send official release to judge to sign off on.

Wait 3-6 months for useless judge to approve paperwork.

Wait 30 days for paperwork to enter system.

You now have 30 days to purchase a handgun. Otherwise you need to redo paperwork.

Well.... technically, since I served during that time (74 to 94) I am considered a Vietnam era veteran... :icon14: but there are so many that claim to have served in 'Nam, it's probably better I don't advertise that.

It's better to quote the 'official' record any way. I had a few really lazy unit diary clerks that didn't keep the SRBs (service record books) 100% up to date. Which is why a few deployments don't show up.....

I was a radio technician, so yeah, I was in signal. I worked on the radios that talked to the aircraft in Marine Air Support and Marine Air Control Squadrons. I worked on HF, VHF, and UHF radios and could to things with HF antennae that made it possible to talk island to island off a 30' fiberglass whip AND talk half way around the world.:tup:
