The hospital is that way during the day. They have 3 different chef stations with whatever they feel like making that day. Us night shifters get boned and only get the grill and salad bar/soup.

"Josh, did you have enough to eat?"
"Yes Grandma."
"In my opinion or in yours?"

Who does that?! Lady, if I'm not capable of determining how much I want to eat at age 30, you better make sure I have a restroom attendant to wipe my *** for me, and a mouthguard/helmet in case I decide to sprint into a nearby wall...

My grandma is 97 and yells stranger! stranger! when I visit. :icon17: she remembers only a couple people. My grandpa is 102 and sharp as a tack still. Hard to get around and about blind but mentally all there.

That's impressive! My grandma still lives alone, shops and cooks for herself, is fully active, and is still able to drive, as well or poorly as she ever has. She's tiny, probably no more than 4'10 now that she's shrunk with age, so her feet barely touch the gas pedal in most vehicles. As a result, she sits with her elbows resting on the steering wheel and turns the car whichever direction she looks. That's not a product of age. She's been scaring the crap out of me with that for decades, swerving from lane to lane, wherever her neck takes her.

The rest of my grandparents have been dead for a while now. It's a shame because after my grandpa passed away, I finally became seriously interested in WWII and amassed a pretty big collection of books on the subject. I'd love to ask him about his experience. He was a radio operator and machine gunner in the pacific theater. Alas, that opportunity is forever lost.

That makes me want to get off my rear and record my grandpas stories. He was an officer in the air force stationed in GB. Said he came back from the war with a 44" waist. He loved the food over there. :icon17:

Had concrete guy over to give a quote for a couple new parking spaces. He said "dont feint when I give ya the quote, this is kinda a big job". I was expecting $10K or something absurd. $2700 final total. Dude, dont scare me like that, that was not nice.

madwi 07-26-2018 02:58 PM

With age. If the mind stays sharp, the body fails. If the body stays healthy, the mind fails.

6 dollars for dry chicken and a tiny corn on the cob.. the hospital changed their food service people a few months ago, trying to be more healthy... it just pissed people off because less selection and way way overpriced.

Our chef at night works at a meat market as a second job. We all pitch in and he picks up Tomahawk steaks ~3" thick and we grill after the cafe closes.

Isn't that always the story when they change services. Someone is trying to maximize their income. Give you less and charge more. :shakes head: Before they get thrown out.

I think the hospital takes a cut of profits or charges an arm and a leg because these prices are ridiculous.. 1 thigh and 1/3 of a corn...6 dollars! lol

Our cafe isnt cheap, but they actually make the food from scratch and its pretty good. Certainly isnt the norm though. Have had some bad meals like yours at other hospitals in the area.
Heres another good pic for ya, not hospital food.

Not a big steak guy (used to be when I was younger) but man that looks good! I don't mind paying a little more if the food was good. Best hospital food I ever had was when my brother first had his stroke. He was at John C. Lincoln hospital in Pheonix. I swear their cafeteria was like a very nice restaurant, food wise - Chicken Parm, Grilled Salmon, Blackened Tilapia..... One day they were serving Chile Verde. Nobody behind the food serving station.

Me: Excuse me, Id like some Chile Verde
Him: Oh, would you like to try it?
Me: Sure
(he gives me a small sample)
Me: It delicious. Id like some please
Him: Oh, help yourself
Me: Ok, how big is one serving
Him: Take as much as you want...

SCORE!!!! Chile Verde with 2 sides = just under $5.00 :happydance:

I forsee many a nap after work if today was any indication. Ran about 50 drop points for data lines, deployed a whole voip system for an office, and then handled smaller tickets throughout the day. I'm beat.

Today was damn near perfect. High 70's, partly cloudy with a nice breeze. Opened all the windows in the house for some fresh air. Tomorrow is laundry day so the sheets and blankets are going to air dry outside on the line. Gonna sleep awesome

Been working in the Badlands a lot lately. The area is all cattle ranches or open range.
1864 General Sully is sent out to punish the Indians.(Genocide) Dark part of our American History.
You can see a Butte in the Distance. Can see for 50 miles from there.Good strategetic location.
The other two pics are on the Butte looking into draw.
This is on a cattle ranch.
August of 1864 Sully's advance Scouts who where Arikara are killed in the draw. They are killed by Lakota.
They are buried by the rocks.
This is one of many skirmishes to come.Sully had cannons and used them .Just a few medal markers to mark what happened.
Interesting place that a tourist can not acess.
