Guys need opinions. Found someone selling a gaming desktop San graphics card for $200. These specs decent?

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.80 GHz CPU, 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 Memory, 240 GB SSD drive, ASRock 880GM motherboard, Antec 600W PSU, Brand new Corsair Spec M2 case with windowed side panel.

The CPU/MoBo combo is the killer. Rather old and dated. If you plan to game, it'll be the main bottleneck of the system. $200 still isn't bad for a Matx case, 600w psu, probably slow ssd, and 8GB of ram. I'd pull the trigger and just upfrade the Mobo/CPU to something new.

I'm gonna think about it for a couple days since being unemployed I have to be careful with my money

DeliriousClam 10-10-2017 11:22 AM

I'd probably be using it for Forza mainly

Leingod 10-10-2017 11:39 AM

Save your money then. Not worth it. Especially if you have no work currently. Let me dig around at home. I may have a brand new 600w EVGA bronze PSU at home I can ship to you. It's sitting under my bed collecting dust I believe. I may have other random supplies as well to get you started. Just remind me later tonight when I get home.

As far as I know, Forza Horizon 3 and onward all require current-gen GPUs, FYI. I couldn't get it to work on my old rig, but my current 1080ti build runs everything great. I'm not sure what the hangup is, but it just would open on neither my old rig nor my laptop.

I actually messaged him before committing to my setup for some advice... We've got very similar setups now!! I'll admit, his is a little louder, maybe it's from the catback? I'm not really sure. Mine is just straight piped like his, so I'm not sure why he's louder, he just kind of... is? Maybe it's the tune :rofl2: If I ever find myself in the northwest with my Z, I'll have to meet up with him and maybe take a comparison video :rofl2: But as it stands now, you can hear my Z (on the throttle) from almost a mile away now hehe :hello:

I can't wait for colder weather to come lmao

Clam, send me a PM with your address. I have some spare desktop parts you can have if you're looking to eventually build something. 600w power supply, some static pressure 120mm fans, a stock cpu cooler, sata cables, and a few other random things.

I love it! It's definitely got some bark to it but I dont think it's obnoxiously loud. A good deep tone at idle and a wicked scream running through the gears. It really quiets down while cruising. The guy who did my window tint yesterday seemed to love it. He couldnt resist revving it to at least 6500 3 times as he pulled it out of the bay. I was inside when he came in and he had a smile from ear to ear. I couldn't get mad because I thought it sounded pretty sick myself haha. A couple of techs commented as I walked out also. I'll get some video for you in next few days.

Biggest part though I have to admit is the HP gain. I think love thst a bit more than the sound.

Locally, my buddy and I are going to start trying for carp (much more challenging). And there are some trout in the streams during the 1-2 months of winter we have here in central Texas, so might have to try them as well.

Yeah, Florida is where my sights have been set on for Tarpon. Reds looks like a blast too. I caught a show on tv about fly fishing for Reds and was hooked ().

I'm sure I have some bits and pieces laying around too. Also have a 980 GPU (desktop) I will let go for a good price.

I have to hold off for now since unemployed. Got interviews coming up though

FWIW, I'm still running an AMD X4 Phenom desktop with stellar performance paired with a decent OS SSD and proper video card. Provided no gaming or hardcore intense graphics. AutoCAD 2015 Revit has no issues with reasonable video. Latest version 2017 runs ok... it's a little glitchy with older video card.

Updated the video card twice since 2010 with no change to any other system variables. For basic home desktop it's been great. There's another comp for more serious computing...

Gave her a nice bubble bath yesterday afternoon and am taking her (and the wife) on a 2000 mile trip for the next 12 days. You know I’m really starting to enjoy this being retired thing...

If you see me riding around with a big ‘ole smile, you’ll know why...

Made chicken francaise last night for a dinner date. Showed the GF how to make a slurry to thicken the sauce. Pounded the chicken very thin and reverse dredged in flour followed by egg. (Creates a fluffier coating). Used lemon olive oil to enhance everything. All in all, restaurant quality.

Leingod 10-12-2017 07:14 AM

Oh. And she has requested I smoked a rack or 2 of ribs this weekend. One of the awesome maintenance guys brewed me a case of "slutty red head". Basically a medium amber beer with 11% alc content. haha. It's beyond amazing for what it should be.

Every time I read your posts about food I start drooling. Not enhancing my professional demeanor! Reps going out. Morning all!

Degree in culinary I never used. I love to experiment and cook for people. Just found out I hated standing in a line making the same junk over and over again. So now I fix computers with a hammer!

I'll upload some photos next time I cook. Presentation is just as important as taste ;)

Looking at $900 for a new set of PSS tires. Or $700 for those BF g-force comp tires. I'm noticing the car gets a bit to squirrely in deep corners some times. I'm sure a lot has to do with it being colder and wetter out recently. But the current set have 9k miles on them since I bought the car. Figured i'll be due by next year when it hits 12k.
