Dangerously Z-talk, but I can't decide between Stillen and FI for exhaust. Need more Z cars in eastern PA so I can sample them in person...

The greddy looks like an awesome choice, however I DD my Z about 60 miles every day. I need something that won't kill my ears driving 60-80 mph on the highway. With my 350, I had the Motordyne TDX V2 + Art Pipes, which sounded amazing, but definitely resonated a little too much in the cabin over long periods of time.

Here is another solid choice (I run this).

370Z Dual 2.5" Exhaust - Nissan 370Z/Infiniti G37 - Berk Technology

JLarson 08-22-2017 07:57 AM

How is the cabin drone with the berk, and the gains? I actually haven't heard many users commenting on Berk, so I think I'll do a bit of research (and I appreciate you posting!)

sx moneypit 08-22-2017 08:05 AM

This is what i run.
HKS Hi-Power Cat-Back Exhaust for the Nissan 370Z Z34 | Shop HKS parts at KamiSpeed.com
No drone but has a great sound when you open it up!

The Berk has almost no drone at all.

I actually did get a chance to hear HKS on a Z, and it does have a very nice tone to it. Based on what I've read so far, it doesn't see the same +whp gains as say the FI and the Stillen, what has your experience been with it?

Thanks all for your feedback! Berk has officially made the short list ;)

Leingod 08-22-2017 08:43 AM

You can't go wrong with Berk either. I'll be using them for res pipes and FI for exhaust in the future.

eastwest2300 08-22-2017 09:41 AM

fellas i just purchased the Fortin remote start kit for my Infiniti.. im nervous, I've never installed one before.. so im gonna do some heavy research on how to before I make the attempt.

onzedge 08-22-2017 10:23 AM

There's a guy with a Doberman and a guy with a Chihuahua.

The guy with the Doberman says to the guy with a Chihuahua, "Let's go over to that restaurant and get something to eat."

The guy with the Chihuahua says, "We can't go in there. We've got dogs with
us."

The guy with the Doberman says, "Just follow my lead."

They walk over to the restaurant, the guy with the Doberman Pincer puts on a pair of dark glasses, and he starts to walk in.

A guy at the door says, "Sorry, mac, no pets allowed."

The guy with the Doberman says, "You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog."

The guy at the door says, "A Doberman?"

He says, "Yes, they're using them now, they're very good."

The guy at the door says, "Come on in."

The guy with the Chihuahua figures, "Hey, why not?" So he puts on a pair of dark glasses and starts to walk in.

The guy at the door says, "Sorry, pal, no pets allowed."

The guy with the Chihuahua says, "You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog."

The guy at the door says, "A Chihuahua?"

The guy with the Chihuahua says, "You mean they gave me a Chihuahua!?"

If you're looking at a Berk, I would take Stillen off your list. Berk will give you the OEM look, nicer tone/sound, and has better build quality than Stillen.

I had an Ark Grip and loved it. Zero drone, nice deep tone and came alive when you got on it. Very civil when driving normally. If I had to do it over again I would get Motordyne though. That's my favorite exhaust for the Z34.

It is plug and play, and from what I've read, its one of the better kits out there.

Ahhh got it. It should be pretty easy then, that's the beauty of cars being push button now a days. Should just have to unplug a few connections, and replug them into the harness/brain of the unit. Hardest part will probably be taking apart the dash/kick panels and finding the harnesses.

ahhhh brother, i've got my fingers crossed there wont be any issues.. i plan on taking my time.. even if it takes all day. As long as I get it right, thats all that matters.

Absolutely!! Looks like they have one for Toyota as well. Let me know how your install goes, may have to pick one up for the Wife's car this winter.

Yeah, thats the sole purpose of me buying one today.. the winters here in michigan are absolutely brutal.. look on ebay.. you can get the kit brand new for $104 out the door.

eastwest2300 08-22-2017 11:49 AM

make sure when you buy it, you give them your vehicle information, i believe they program it to be able to transmit with your key FOB.

I hear you on winters. Hate them more every passing year

Stillen reasoning - relatively quiet, solid gains, close to FI in that regard. My car isn't lowered, so I hadn't worried too much about quality, not planning on bottoming out. Does Stillen have a penchant for problems even without that?

Leingod 08-22-2017 12:17 PM

grape leaves for lunch :yum:

JLarson 08-22-2017 12:31 PM

Love those. Couple good Morroccan places near me, now I want to make a stop on my way home tonight...

Leingod 08-22-2017 12:35 PM

Hahha. I just grabbed some from my local grocery store. Closest Mediterranean places are a half hour from me. Way better quality, but have to make due with what is available.

I've had mixed experiences with various Stillen products spanning a few different Nissans. I've seen and heard the Stillen on a few z34s and it just doesn't seem as nice as other cat-backs out there. Also keep in mind that Stillen is the only exhaust out there that isn't a true dual. It uses a Y-pipe design like the stock set up.

Tornado warning here. Looks like the storms OnZ was experiencing this morning are now here.
