I hate waiting for parts. Fi HFC, craftsquare, Nitrous lines, fak, we need drone delivery

madwi 04-20-2017 07:47 AM

USPS drone crashes into Kenchan's cars everyday :icon17:

What do you recommend as good basic tools to have on hand? Still new to this stuff....

My tools consist of a basic ratchet set with a random assortment of fittings and my first power drill lol. I really want to buy this porter cable 4 gallon shopvac I saw at Costco lol

Pretty much made my decision to keep an eye out for some when Bob came up to Vegas and drove me around for an evening :)

But I will say get the CS mirrors if you care at all about fit and finish and don't mind the wallet hit.

I love the actual mirrors ... have to be more careful about changing lanes. They make every lane look wide open lol. I can see the front of a car almost even with my rear bumper, and I can actually see bicyclists and pedestrians without having to crane my neck to look around the mirrors

All depends on which way you want to go. I prefer air tools myself.
WHen it comes to tools, if it is going to be used often buy something good that will last. Stuff like impacts that need some oomph, I like to get corded vs. battery. Most good tool brands will last a lifetime or three with proper maintenance and care.

Drone delivery from Craftsquare would be quite the task. The Pacific Ocean is really big :icon17:

No one seems to like the N1 style. I saw one years ago before in person, and I prefer it to the F style. The blue tint is nice, too.

Basics to keep on hand? Hmmmm, All of them

A good set of screw drivers that you dont use as prybars or punches. A good pry bar set, Torque wrench, combination wrench sets are nice, imperial and metric. Impact is always handy for stubborn items that you want to conform to your will.

Madwi makes great points. But if you're not ready to throw down the cash on Snap-On and such, consider tools from places like Harbor Freight or Northern Tool. They certainly aren't the best tools, but for the price the quality is quite good. I started with that stuff and have been gradually replacing the tools I use most with higher quality stuff either purchasing myself or asking for tools or gift cards for bday/xmas gifts.

Shopvacs are handy, and you don't need to spend a lot on one. I think I paid $30 on sale for a cheap one at Lowe's and it's still running like a champ 8 years later :twocents:

I got the chance to check out both in Pomona and I like the short version a bit better. I am not a fan of the lock nut on the top, although it might be handy to have.

I got my 25" breaker bar from HF for $8 on sale.

:iagree: my air tools are generic no names. I keep them oiled and they work very well. I do put up with a small oil leak or other little quality issues but they continue to work for years. Other items (not hand tools) like my router or cordless drills are Bosch and dewalt. Take a look at the projects you do the most and see what is out there. Easy to replace, lifetime warranty hand tools is great too, if it doesnt take 3 years to get your new one back from China slow boat.

You say you like the short version better? That's the N1 style (bottom in the photo). And you're not a fan of the lock nut at the top? That's the F style that you ordered (top in the photo).

Those are exactly the reasons I want the N1 style - I like the shorter version and I don't like the nut or bolt or whatever on top of the F style.

Well fak me, I will need to review that, they said it was the other way around in their pics.

Well, for your sake, I hope I'm wrong :ugh:

JARblue 04-20-2017 08:10 AM

Just looked at their website and you are correct. It is the F style that is the shorter version and no locking on top. Sorry for the scare :icon17:

I just noticed they do have a North America contact number now. I don't remember seeing that before. Did you order through a vendor or direct from CS?

Looks like I am taking a trip to HF this weekend. Want another pair of jack stands anyways. May look at compressors and air tools.

Those mirrors aren't badly priced at all. $1,000 for CF diffuser, CF pillars, and F style mirrors.
