Even something with a relatively simple tread pattern like the PSS if you take it from one side where the grooves are 'aiming' forward (which I think is typical) and turn it over the the opposite side of the car the inside/outside will still be correct obviously but those grooves will now be aiming backwards.

Maybe that doesn't make a difference and I'm overthinking it though.. but to me that has to affect performance.

But regardless even when the tires are new you put one on one side and one on the other side there going to be mirror image of each other.

On a standard car tire I'm sure that is exactly right and the tread patterns are designed with that in kind, though in any kind of performance in recent years that I've seen they are side to side. Two different moulds to counter exactly that. Hence forward rotation labels on the sidewalls.

Or maybe I just haven't had enough coffee yet this morning :icon14:

no. i dont rotate tires at all. not only does dat degrade performance, it can introduce unwanted tire noise. only on all season junk tires on my wife's Fit do i place the better tires on the rear vs the front to prevent any spin outs.

kenchan 03-11-2017 10:33 AM

so when i take wheels off my ride, i note on the barrel which corner i took it off of. just a little slit of masking tape and just mark FU and WTF and i know which corner it goes on nxt time. :ugh:

kenchan 03-11-2017 10:36 AM

its really da reinforced belts dat is key on asymetrical tires. those belts need to be on the inner side of the wheel towards da center of the car.

kenchan 03-11-2017 10:42 AM

motored my STI and had a blast. i faking luv this car mang.. :excited: it is such a joy to drive this car it is unbelievable.

only thing i do is set the throttle to S# (i run stage1 AP) and center diff rear-bias. nothing else, even leave the VDC turned on to maximize vectoring. thing just turns with barely any understeer and no step outs even with summer tires in 18F weather... lol

sounds great too.... until a rock hit da roof  BANG!!
luckily only a light chip, no dent :ugh: :rofl2: who faking cares, dis is a rally car. little roadrash is OK.

kenchan 03-11-2017 10:44 AM

dis is why ive been thinking about just selling the Z and getting an abarth dat ive been wanting since release.. i might seriarsely do it dis yr..

kenchan 03-11-2017 10:46 AM

madness lowering springs (2inches+ drop) and datz about all id mod on da abarth. i luv da look of dem 17's dey offer factory, exhaust sounds awesome.

kenchan 03-11-2017 10:52 AM

one of da top dogs at my work asked if i want to get in on a civic type-r group buy.. like dey order 5 at a time and get a supplier discount or something.

only problem with high power FWD..i cant put all dat power to da ground off da line.. like my GTI currently pulls over 300lbs/ft and it just spins.. :ugh2: anything over 300lbs/ft requires AWD or RWD for street unless its like a truck or something just for hauling.. lol

rooftop 03-11-2017 10:52 AM

So you would only rotate crappy all season tires? Not the high-performance Michelin all season tires?

BoneZ 03-11-2017 11:10 AM

Mrs. BoneZ brought home another gift for me.

yah, i dont run pss, but if i did, i would not rotate dem.

crap tires are about longitivity.
performance tires are about performance. i dont rotate them including my RE11's.

datz weird... usually on US roads its the left tires dat wear first as dere are more right turns vs left (since we drive on the right side of da road).

u get ur alignment checked lately? might want to do dat.

JNews86 03-11-2017 11:18 AM

St.Patricks pub crawl hurr today. Not going this year. Getting too old for that.

BoneZ 03-11-2017 11:19 AM

Yep. I get the 3 year alignment warranty and have it done frequently. I also have an open differential. The right tire wears faster but it's still wears evenly.

kenchan 03-11-2017 11:20 AM

oh yah, when i took off my GTI's wheels i was running for like 8months i noticed it only had like half tread left :rofl2: and dese are like 400AA or something tires (DWS06). id get da same set next time too. cheap and great for all season perf.
