yah, jokes aside, u should if u want to preserve the metal.. HUGE difference if driven through salt.

eastwest2300 02-18-2017 06:40 PM

I did wash the car to include the engine today too.

yah washing ur engine bay is real important too. after all dry, i apply a light coat of motor oil on the metal bits including brackets and hose clamps (use q-tips, dont get oil on da hoses demselves not dat it cant handle it, but it can react to the oil)

steering rods are usually silver in color (unless already rusted :ugh: ) and connect to the knuckle to steer da car. not sure why but dey dont usually come painted and one of da first things to rust. :ugh: followed by da diff (pumpkin).

not dat surface rust is a super bad thing, it's normal for steel and some metals.
but less rust = looks nicer and will last longer.

kenchan 02-18-2017 06:46 PM

i dont know how long u plan to keep ur ride, but if longer dan 5-6yrs, definitely coat da metals with motor oil and spot spray the black finish on the subframe were it rusted, etc. it is a night/day difference.

rusted bits i use a wire brush, blast it clean with either contact cleaner or RC car motor spray, den use duplicolor engine enamel (matte black).

kenchan 02-18-2017 06:48 PM

dat duplicolor dont even need primer.. yah weird but it sticks to bare metal real well.

eastwest2300 02-18-2017 07:39 PM

thanks brother.. i appreciate that.. im gonna copy/paste what you wrote, then make it happen.

BoneZ 02-18-2017 09:12 PM

I am excellent, thanks for asking. The Ben's science grade slipped to a high B... other than that straight A's. He'll bring it back up though.
