I wear steel-toed boots on a daily basis, and I would kick hundreds of human beings in very unpleasant locations before ever attacking a dog. Even after being bitten in the back of the leg by a pitbull my initial reaction was "Hello doggy :)". That was before the attack even registered and certainly before I thought about swinging my heavy a$$ boot at the dog. Which was unnecessary (training by the owner in the first place was the necessity).
