At the same time, it was far easier for you, my dad, etc back when you guys were my age to have a better income. Nobody needed a bachelors degree to make enough to buy a house. Kids today are lucky to work at burger kind with an associates because so many of us have no experience for the jobs we need. The fact that my dad could buy a brand new Mustang when he turned 18 working part time at a steel mill speaks volumes. I was working full time at a lawfirm when I turned 18 and could barely afford a used Cobalt SS.

Kids these days don't know what it means to work ahrd. Hell, I probably don't know what it means to work hard still. But it's also a lot tougher to get ahead in life with crippling debt for college degree that's 99% needed to get anything technical. Trade schools just don't exist like they use to.

iI worked all the way through earning my bachelor's degree and it was in this time of my life I learned how to function on 3 hours of sleep per night. It was not easy.

I compare this to my two sons who only worked when they were in school because they wanted to, not because they had to. I fully supported them in their educational pursuits and even though it was automotive, it was amazingly expensive.

I had it far more difficult than they did (and do) but at least I have ready access to 2 ASE Masters with a shop and a true passion for cars, especially Z's.

Here is the problem. Socialism simply cannot work. All who have tried have failed and miserably so. Those who take eventually outpace those who make. Where is all this "Free" stuff going to come from?

Magic?

A genie?

A rich uncle?

No.

It comes from wealth and the people who generate it, not from the takers of all the freebies.

People who complain about their massive student loan debt crack me up. Were you an adult when you signed the paper? Did you read it? Were you capable of performing simple math at the time in order to understand how much you would be paying back and for how long? Did you then figure out how much you would need to make?

Many don't do these amazingly simple things and then they want us to forgive their loans. It does not work like that.

All these youngsters running around saying "I want this" and "I am owed that" and who espouse socialism or versions of it are simply clueless as to how a real economy works and grows and sustains itself and it is not by taking, but rather giving.

Besides, most of them cannot really explain socialism anyway beyond the "free" stuff and then by reposting Memes about how groovy Denmark is (which it is not).

Demark? You mean the place that has 3000 people?

Student debt is far greater than what you're saying. Go to college, and pay it off over time. But not for 30+ years. The UK has a limit of 10 years before the debt is forgiven. And college 20 years ago cost peanuts while granting anyone graduating a high paying nice job. Todays costs of college are inflated to the point of worthlessness, the degree means literally nothing, and companies don't want to pay or train anyone.

I'm not saying my generation should be given free college, but it can be reduced in price. I shouldn't have been paying $600+ per college book. A fancy piece of paper shouldn't cost tens of thousands of dollars. And don't you dare tell me for a second that everyone knows right at 18 what they want to do in life. But hey, we were forcefed bullshyt from our parents constantly pushing college because we'd be screwed without a degree. We are screwed either way right now. The college kids just have debt alongside a low paying job.

And nope, I didn't read the fine print. I honestly believe what my dad and many others told me. "Go to college, get a degree, and you'll get a nice job." I don't have some useless degree either. Computer security and information alongside several certifications has proven I did the hard work and have the experience. But when cost of living and student loans are higher than the current rate of pay, the system is fundamentally broken.

So please, tell me where to get a bachelors degree for under $30,000 because a degree is most definitely needed in today world. And then tell me where to get a job that pays well enough to support myself and pay off the loans in under 20 years.

And Mr. OnZ. please don't take my responses as being spiteful, malicious, etc. I'm just standing by my own reasoning as seeing it from a 26 yr olds view. I'm truly blessed and thankful in many ways for what I have compared to others. I'm thankful for you guys always being around.

At the end of the day, I just want my damn cheap taco hell, a spirited drive in my Z, some sexy time with the girlfriend, and a nice long nap. My loans aren't going anywhere. So why should I rush? hahahaha
