By the time you add exhaust and clutch, about $22k with labor..... :icon14:

The kit is just about $10k

kenchan 03-31-2016 03:24 PM

Yea.... No thank you. I'd rather sell the Z and the 22k. I'd then buy a Z06, ZL1, Hellcat, etc for cheaper and use the remainder to make the car go quicker than what a traditional TT 370Z could do.

20K for the Z, another 22K for TT, clutch, exhaust & tune (net of 450 to 500hp)

still cheaper than a Z06 or Hellcat...:excited:

Besides, why would you want an Hellcat....it's Mostly Old Parts And Rust, made by Fix It Again Tony.... :nutswinger:

Leingod 03-31-2016 04:26 PM

I just meant in general. A used c5 even with built internals N/A still can make 600+. TT'ing the Z is already pushing a lot of limits without rebuilding the engine. This car is just wicked expensive to go fast.

Shitty comparison. a Chevy Cobalt with 260hp stock can be TT'ed for under 5k and make over 400hp with very little internal work. The Z is over 4 times that price for roughly the same HP gain or double the stock value.

Not to say a TT Z isn't freaking amazing though. It makes such a lovely sound.

Ghostvette 03-31-2016 04:38 PM

In talking with Tony & Kevin at FI, I can safely go to 600 hp without having to touch the internals of the VQ motor. Not that I need that much power, it's nice to know I could go that high if I wanted to. :excited:

I've built my share of GM pushrod motors (old school stuff with carbs & cams, no fuel injection) and even on cars with blowers, making any kind of boost on the old motors required internal work. Yes, the manufacturing process has gotten better, car engines are much better now than they were in the 60s & 70s, and we've learned a lot technology wise in the last 40 odd years. We'd take cars running 13:1 compression, stuff a GMC 6-71 blower on top and then wonder why the engine grenaded on the starting line...or halfway down the track...

It's nice to take basically a stock vehicle, make some relatively minor adjustments and make good power, without having to tear it down and rebuild it. :)
