Just astounding a 3 year old flagship model TV with the highest rated reviews for plasma and personally owning an Panasonic TV still going 15+ yrs strong would die on me like this. Customer service was a complete joke and basically laughed at me since it's out of warranty. I use to have high regards for Panasonic TV's. Seems now that everything is complete junk. I'll just go get one of the cheap $1,000 vizios who's parts costs pennies when something breaks.

Drive to bad part of town. Leave keys on dashboard. Lock car (so insurance will pay) and walk away. That **** will be in a chop shop before you can finish the call to the police*

I live in Central NY. I am surrounded by farmers and tweens still humping twilight logic. My bad areas consist of kids doing the pot, black guys reading in coffee shops, asians speaking american fluently, white people being more southern then Florida, and a million other racist remarks. I can't even tell you the last time I even heard of a car jacking or one being stolen here in Rome.

I've never found Panasonic to have good quality, growing up we had a tube Panasonic that would crap put every 8months or so. My dad fixed it twice then put it in the dumpster where it belonged after 2years. my father in law still has a plasma and it does produce a great picture but you guessed it, it's had issues along the way (extended warranty repairs). It's also not a smart tv so he's committed it to the trash next time it goes out

In the LCD world, Panasonic TV's are not a contender and probabaly hard for you to believe but Vizio is probably better than anything Panasonic now. Regardless, buy a mid level 4k Samsung smart TV, they are the best (I'm a former Sony guy). They have decent specs and mine have been troublefree. Pretty affordable too ($1500 - $2000)

I know every tv has flaws. i just want something that looks decent for video games and won't die on me within the next decade. Vizio seems to be steamrolling the competition, and samsung is dirt cheap. I just worry with samsungs quality. Sony is just to pricey nowadays. Same with Sharp. I will NEVER get a LG tv ever again.

I have been using Samsung TV's -- LCD and LED -- and they perform well and last.

Samsung or Vizio it is. Any specific models you recommend? looking at the 1k range. 50+ inches. Doesn't need to be smart in any way, or need to be 3d. Nor 4k since nothing can produce that resolution for anything I use frequently. Probably LED since I hear color reproduction is better.

Just about anything Samsung LED is good. I have a Samsung 60 inch LED Smart TV model 7150.

Rep honorably.

i just feel like typing now, not sure why, but i'll just keep typing and typing and tying and typing and ok i don't feel like typing anymore.

For an entry level TV you really can't go wrong with either. If you're looking at higher end TV's, that's where Samsungs usually edges out. I too was worried about Samsung's quality coming from Sony, but have been very pleased. Don't go with anything Sony right now. They're overpriced and under built. My last Sony had dead pixels within 3years. My 6year old 720p Samsung LCD is still going strong

Sony: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KDL50W800...s=120hz+led+tv

Vizio: http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E50-C1-5...s=120hz+led+tv

Still looking for a Samsung that i like

I run a sharp 60" at home and its been great for the last 5ish years.
We run a few hundred LG tvs 24/7 at work and surprisingly the failure rate is not too bad.

I'd go with sharp, but everything is pricey for my needs compared to other models. And I will NEVER buy ANYTHING LG related EVER again. My first HDTV was a LG which died in under a year. how? The stupid freaking IR receiver within the tv literally exploded. TV worked, but you had to manually get up and change channels. SCREW THAT!

Leingod 09-18-2015 08:07 AM

If anyone has a specific Vizio or Samsung that they prefer, send me the Amazon link. I'll be pulling the trigger this weekend. I NEED MY VIDEO GAMES AND NETFLIX

Yeah, sharp does tend to be a bit higher.
the IR receiver blew up? never heard of that before. :ugh2:

i literally watched it shoot out a few sparks and then burn slightly. TV worked fine, but manually changing inputs, channels, and volume became beyond daunting.

Have you opened it up to check the capacitors?!?! I'll put $1000 down that replacing a few capacitors will fix it :twocents:

I've been able to fix a number of TVs and monitors over the years using that method. I've fixed ones from 6 months old to 10 years old. Works every time. I usually replace most every capacitor (I don't mess with the big ones though - they'll mess you up if you're not careful to discharge them properly). It costs about ~$13 including shipping typically :tiphat:

EDIT: nevermind... no bet :icon17: You saw flames shoot out the back?!? Our Z's can't even do that  ... or can they? :icon08:
