I read this yesterday, and I had the same response. IMHO, in the case of the man with the Lincoln, when his son heard that response from his dad, he should have taken the keys away. That is sheer stupidity on the part of car owners and has opened the door to more government interference in our personal life, all because SOME PEOPLE ARE TOO STUPID TO OWN CARS......:shakes head:

Things will only get worse. Nature has a very effective method of weeding out the weak and stupid but we are subverting natural selection and polluting the gene pool.

Bring back Darwinism. I say we just remove all the warning labels on everything for at least 5 years and let nature run its course.

to me, this is the same as someone leaving their gas stove on w/o turning it off. This is also what happens when people use their cell phones as their exiting their vehicle. I bet more than half of these folks were preoccupied talking on their phones and forgot to turn turn off the ignition.

There's no way this goes anywhere in court. If you get out of your car, it's obvious the car is still running. So, what these people got out of their cars and stayed inside a closed garage with the car running waiting for it to turn off? Also, might buy this if this happened when someone first bought the car, but after the first night they would have figured out they were doing something wrong. Otherwise these people were going inside and leaving their cars running every day? I'm not buying it.

These people are the same douche canoes that ruined it for everyone when their incompetence led to the requirement of depressing the clutch to start the engine, in modern cars.
At least Toyota trucks came with a Clutch-Start Cancel button.

It's a must have for any 4×4.

Don't you also have to manually switch the key off? They need a safety for that too. LOL

This is the same problem we have with guns. Not only do you have to be responsible, you also have to be competent. Many people are neither of these things when it comes to guns and cars. Ownership of either of those items is a privilege, not a right. I have no sympathy for these people, just like I have no sympathy for the idiot who accidentally shoots himself in the foot.
