Found this in the comments... pretty humorous :icon17: yet very sad at the same time :shakes head:

Look at some of the ridiculous tags that manufacturers are required to affix to things you buy as a result of these law suits.
"Caution: Remove infant before folding for storage." -- On a portable stroller.
"For external use only!" -- On a curling iron.
"Do not use in shower." -- On a hair dryer.
"Caution: Do not spray in eyes." -- On a container of underarm deodorant.
"Do not use near fire, flame, or sparks." -- On an "Aim-n-Flame" fireplace lighter.
"Do not eat toner." -- On a toner cartridge for a laser printer.
"Do not iron clothes on body." -- On packaging for a Rowenta iron.
"May irritate eyes." -- On a can of self-defense pepper spray.
"Caution! Contents hot!" -- On a Domino's Pizza box.
"Caution: Hot beverages are hot!" -- On a coffee cup.
"Warning: has been found to cause cancer in laboratory mice." -- On a box of rat poison.
"Warning: do not use if you have prostate problems." -- On a box of Midol PMS relief tablets.
"Warning: May cause drowsiness." -- On a bottle of Nytol, a brand of sleeping pills.
"Do not attempt to stop the blade with your hand." -- In the manual for a Swedish chainsaw.

I agree with all comments made. However, my understanding of why this lawsuit was started with Toyota was due to the Prius. Drivers would pull into their garage in electric mode and not remember to turn the car off (distracted, I am sure). Later, as the battery ran down, the gasoline engine kicks-in to recharge the battery, and then carbon monoxide poisoning occurs.

Again....not defending a frivolous lawsuit.....but it makes more sense when considering this series of events.

(my emphasis)

Gun ownership IS a right - at least in the US. See Second Amendment of US Constitution.

But your point is still valid. ;)

Fair enough ... I guess even stupid people have a right to keep the King of England out of their face  :icon17:

My right to life trumps your right to bear arms in an irresponsible manner, so I don't have a problem restricting irresponsible gun owners' ability to purchase them despite their inherent right via the 2nd Amendment :twocents:

be kinda cool if the engine shuts off after the fob is outside a certain distance.. like 15 sec after the fob is 5ft away or so.

this way it can possibly recover a car after a car jacking. give away the car, you run away. by the time the car shuts down, you will be at least over the river and through the woods. :ugh:

kenchan 08-31-2015 11:23 AM

.. and gets lost in the woods :ugh2:

And then the thief sues you and the car maker for the wreck he/she gets in when the car shuts down. Personally, I think it's a great idea; it's just not practical in today's litigious society.

Edit: The more I think about it, the better I like your idea. It should be easy to override the shutdown - if car is moving, don't shutdown.

Well, my car should just know when I don't want it to be on!

Please god NO. I am a Wireless field engineer in Florida and I am in and out of my vehicle all day long. I leave it Running, I get out I lock the doors and go fix something. It's hot outside and I have a Laptop I use to monitor the network with and it stays up all day long. A laptop in a Hot vehicle dose not work well at all.

These people need to buy a Nissan Leaf.
In the driver's test, some basic common sense questions need to be asked.
