It's a comedy classic.

Is it though? I've watched a few 80's movies that I was told, "You MUST watch it, it's hilarious/amazing!" and they were nothing more than a waste of time in the end.

See: Breakfast Club, Ghostbusters, Goonies, Ferris Beuller's Day Off (this one wasn't awful), Back to the Future, Hellraiser, Tron, etc.

If you don't find it funny, or didn't enjoy some of those on your list, the problem isn't the movie, it's the viewer.

I'll add this movie to my to-watch list!

Quite possibly, but 80's humor just isn't funny to me.

There are probably movies that I think are funny/hilarious that others don't think are funny.

The only one I could consider "liking" would be Ferris Beuller's Day Off. It seemed well done, no cheap, fake looking effects, and not much of the typical, unfunny 80's humor.
