No, it's a Frigidaire.

Which is a dumb brand name for a humidifier because it blows out hot air. :icon17:

Though the appliance plug looks bad, the terminals are solidly affixed and there is no damage to the cord.

hummm... hope no damage to the wiring inside the walls.. :ugh:

GF has a "test" to take for an interview. Must create a template for an email and create a homepage for a website add with HTML/CSS. She doesn't know code and the job is for a graphic artist that has nothing to do with coding.

I'll be up all night coding for her. Will need red bull, heavy classical music, and a 1lbs bag of skittles.

I just sent out a few reps. Enjoy :tiphat:

It's just in a conduit fastened to the wall, runs about 10 feet.

He's done already. He did not seem at all surprised at what he saw/found.

He explained what happened, is that the outlet was old and somewhat corroded internally (which makes sense due to it being in a basement on a cement wall) and the outlet type just used crimp connectors, rather than screw terminals like modern outlets.

Even though it worked, it created a lot of heat (remember your Ohm's Law), which eventually caused it to loosen up more, which caused it to arc internally, burning up the outlet from the inside.

He had a tester and was able to identify which circuit breaker it was, and said that it was not indicative of any problem that the breaker did not blow.

So basically, a 10-minute job to replace it. Could have done it myself easily, but after seeing what happened, I was glad to have a pro tell me what had happened.

Wow...

Resized pic... Suck it, onzedge. :p

So I just cleaned the terminals on the dehumidifier plug and plugged it back in. It's working fine. The plug isn't even warm or anything.

I'll replace it but it seems to be just cosmetic damage. :ugh2:

That looks very hazardous. Was Mr. EastWest at your house?
