And this is why I can't do tech support ... I would never thought that this person was so stupid they couldn't figure out how to turn on a monitor these days. I guess you do it long enough, you just learn to start from the beginning with each person. But I cannot deal with stupid people too long or it will be hazardous to their health and my freedom lol

I went through our inventory a few months ago and tagged everyone in the whole building with make/model of computer being used. Won't catch this I.T. guy off guard.

When I first started, I was expecting an issue to come in and me thoroughly having to dig around on the computer to fix it. Like a major virus, bios broken, etc. I've now learned over the years that 90% of problems can be fixed by asking if it's charged, if the power button was hit, or restart the machine. The wicked smart people are usually the dumbest.

that's what i thought too and that's why i didn't get the IT job when i first started here. i thought i'd be building computers from scratch, hacking into the fbi, etc. come to learn all they do is plug in computers and reboot computers. smh

I got lucky with my job. Yes, it has stupid problems like rebooting computers. But I also handle the security for everything, manage our server room, and handle all our dbms. I'm sure if I went to a bigger company, I'd be stuck doing a single task each day and would want to murder myself.

working for a large company has it's benefits and it's drawbacks. just have to weigh out the situation.

A/C is cranked ehre and everyone is still sweating. Maintenance will be climbing through the ducts soon.

Problem with Tech around my area is I either have to drive 1-2 hrs for a decent paying job, or suffer closer to home with a lower wage. Not much advancement around my area for a solid 3 hours. I got wicked lucky to be at where I am now.
