motordyne XYZ w/resonator eliminates rasp on most single setups!
I rasp around 3-4k on accel/deccelaration is mostly on cold starts and slowly dies out when warmed up. Wrapping the ehxaust doesn't hurt either 15 Seconds of Cheech & Chong! - YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5aP3...B6fdlA&index=4 can't wait to add Tomei to my life |
Yeah, the MDyne resonator helped with the rasp a ton, but it was still ear bleedingly loud over 3.5K RPM, even at partial throttle. I also tried the HFC module and it didn't decrease the volume at all, it just cleaned up the exhaust gasses a bit.

I still love mine! Lol. I get a ton of compliments on it and people break their necks to see what car is making all that noise. But... I live in a small, quiet city and it's gotten to the point where cops know me by name and I'll have people text me that they can hear me driving whenever I take the car out. I still have momentum headers that need to go on and I'm wondering how much louder it will be.
|
Still got mine on too. Sounds like a raped ape from 3 miles out. I get compliments also all the time.
|
Lol, the only time I got a compliment was when I was sitting in traffic, slowly moving forward. The gentlemen in a lightly modded CRX said, "your car sounds fast."

When I go out with the car club and cruise my friends were saying if they get separated they just stick their heads out the window and listen for where I am at. One guy was saying when we were in some tunnels he was OMG he is everywhere. Lmao.

Joined the club today. Tomei back section, Motordyne Y pipe with resonator and Fast Intentions resonated test pipes. Best decision ever.

I'm brapping with this set up now and folks hear me miles away lol. I'll use my press to bend the brace for clearance tomorrow.
Oh how I enjoy the sound! But... Call me a wuss - I will be utilizing the sound reducer occasionally for moments of peace. |
Nice roller from the other day. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...psp7bhfvnp.jpg

Ok, so I have had the Tomei on my car for about 6 months now and have a few concerns that hopefully others who have this exhaust can help with. I currently have Fast Intentions Resonated test pipes and the full Tomei exhaust. The issue I seem to be having is that it doesn't sit right.
I know that there are issues with the Tomei because it is designed for the 350, but I traded my brace bar (not shaved) and APEX'i for the Tomei and their brace bar (shaved). I have removed the brace bar as the exhaust will not 'fit' if they brace bar is on. The exhaust also seems to be rattling against the sway bar when in idle (sometimes). I would really like to get the brace bar back on as other have stated the rear doesn't feel right when taking corners. I can't get pictures at the moment but I can provide additional details for clarification. Thanks in advance for the help. |
I ground a relief in the brace and cut the end of the hanger off that doesn't get used because it was vibrating on my sway bar. No issues since.

I have clearance through everything without touching, but had to rotate the pipes a little, where the springs latch on (the little hoops) they don't line up.

Just the clamps. I have an RS*r concept exhaust on my integra that is identical in design to the tomie minus the titanium. A slip fit exhaust like these that have the springs as options are so when you go off track and the rear section hangs on something with enough force it comes apart instead of tweaking the hell out of the rest of the components. Being that I don't track the car right now, I just run the clamps on both cars. You can do either the springs or the clamp, not required to run both.

Oh... Well I feel enlightened knowing this now. I will try adjusting it when I get the chance. Hopefully this will fix the situation. I probably won't get the chance for another 2 weeks but I will update as soon as I get the chance. Thanks for the advice!

If you want to quiet your Tomei down some install Momentum/Z1 Headers. I did last Sunday and it quieted it down a lot surprisingly. Less restriction = quieter, who knew?

Interesting. Did you do the install yourself? I know someone running the LTH + XYZ resonator and it's much quieter than my setup. Sent from my phone |
Yes did it myself, also running resonated motordyne Y.
