What's not passing?
50ft behind? The side as you blow by?
Whats WOT? Like WOT at 2k? 3k? Redline? In what gear?

Some tracks have a limit of 95db. If you are over, you're done. The ones I have seen are usually positioned at the starting line or close to it so they can measure at WOT as you pass by close to redline. Doesn't matter what gear you're in.

You should know this stuff from doing motorcycles. Same set-up. Or don't you? If you raced motorcycles like you said. You've been through it.

Never had an issue, never checked, no one said anything ever, at any race, at any track.

Rules per the race organization hand book though for bikes stated half throttle revving at a 45 degree angle from the muffler tip at like 4 feet away (clearly not the same). I did my own testing because I thought they'd check which they never did. Max couldn't be over 105db. My bike was 105db. Which means WOT on the straights I know I was pushing 130+. After every race I was asked "was that you? O man that sounds insane. We can pick your bike out of everyone around the track." Again no complaints, just other racers liking the unique sound.

And since I raced at Pittsburgh where pulling in says 95db max, I think they're full of **** on it.

When I ran AMA and WERA, I was checked a few times on my bikes. Yea Pitt has a sign that says 95db, but I know of vehicles that are closer to 130db running there.

Anything above 94dB fails.

Mic placed 50ft to the side of the track perpendicular to the straight.

Close to redline in 4th gear.

I'll have to try it on a country road.

Sad to see this thread has died, I think it could have been a good sticky. A buddy of mine was messing around with his reader (I don't know if it was dBA or C) and we got up to 103dB in my cabin with the windows up.

I removed the cats and put on Beluga resonated test pipes, and I've also had a muffler delete... I'm planning to go to an exhaust shop soon to get the car quiet downed a bit as people in the area aren't too happy about my car at 2am. :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: I'll see if they have a reader by any chance and update...
