Default Which is the best Short Ram Air System

Should I keep the stock air boxes and just drop in some afe's or k&n's and add the Z1 post maf tubes for about $230 or should I go with a short ram air type intake for $300 - $400? I know that the longer tube CAI offers the most gains however, I am not worried about the 5hp. I am more interested about the looks and sound coming from the engine compartment. Which ever way I choose it will be paired with a non resonated HFC and FI CBE. I am not wanting to remove the bumper for any install. I also do not want to hinder the performance in any way. Any recomendations would be great. Thanks

My vote for the Z1 & K&N filters.

Either panels and stock box or long intakes, no WAIs, warm air intakes

Since you are wanting looks I would say go with Z1 & K&N filters or short ram air. Once you start adding other mods and eventually get a tune, then there "might" not be that noticeable of a hp difference from Z1 & K&N filters to long tube CAI, or short ram air. The key word is MIGHT and there could be 3-6 hp difference.

Or just ball out on a top secret intake! Might be able to find one used for $1200, or just go hks for around $700. Or save them pennies for ponies and just go with Z1 setup mentioned. Haha

Went with R2C intake. I like the looks and from what little I read they are supposed to sound amazing.

I went with K&N filters and post MAF tubes. you will get gains from it maybe not like the long tube intakes, but they are there, it won't be much of a difference with the two. however, it doesn't make that "loud intake sound" you were mentioning. I got 10whp and 8ftlbs from mine without a tune. and only had AAM short tails that added another 5whp

I suggest going that route unless you want Long tube intakes. the gain difference is minimal, unless your going for huge gains. plus the Z1 tubes look good under the hood

I have the K&N typhoon intake and I love it. I think it looks awesome and I did hear a difference when you get on it. It's really convenient when you have to recharge the air filters too because you won't have to remove the front bumper like with a cold air intake. I personally think it's the way to go.
